Do you have access to a fridge or not? If not, bring a cooler. Coleman's makes a 6-pack cooler with an ice pack screwed inside the lid. Cool air travels downward, it's genius, and just the right size for one lunch. Sort of like this.
Also, a 16oz water bottle, frozen, makes a great ice pack.

Stores have shelf-ready meals, but they are usually sky-high in sodium.
