$125 on amazon

You'll have to buy this with it

It's most likely a whiskey stone.

They chill your whiskey without diluting it with water (melting ice)

u/UsePreparationH · 7 pointsr/intel

Whiskey stones are metal cubes that you put in the freezer. You put them on a glass to cool a beverage (usually whiskey) but unlike ice it won't melt so it won't water down the drink. You can reuse them after washing them and putting them in the freezer again.

Water is better at storing energy than metal so the best ones (in terms of how cold it can get your drink/how long they stay cold) are ones that are filled with water or a water based gel that has a lower freezing point.

if you believe what he says about soapstone and also don't want to pay 7.50 per for ice chillers 6 months from now you can get these guys: http://www.amazon.com/Kollea-Stainless-Chilling-Reusable-Whiskey/dp/B00EWAWZAC/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1463080654&sr=8-2&keywords=drink+chiller same idea, work just fine as far as I can tell

Buy one of these,, hold the ice cube tray over it upside down, twist and shake until ice cubes fall into the bin.

I went to a super casual wedding at a camping lodge that encouraged BYOB - the couple set up coolers and buckets that people could put their alcohol into. I think a big beverage tub would look really nice and would go with a rustic vibe:

I normally just fill a pot with water and stick it in the freezer, then use one of these bad boys to break it apart. Talk about durable and practical.

u/back_seat_dog · 2 pointsr/AskScienceDiscussion

Then don't use ice. You can have the same effect putting the ice inside a "container" that will hold the water or using a different material that won't melt in your drink, like this for example.

u/MsMargo · 2 pointsr/cocktails

I have to say, I find re-using ice a little odd. Why not just make fresh, or pick up a bag of ice at the grocery store (or Sonic, if you have one)?

Edit: Guess I have to be helpful too. Try this insulated 3L bucket; it has a reservoir at the bottom to help keep ice dry: https://www.amazon.com/OXO-Grips-Double-Bucket-Garnish/dp/B016BA0A3Y/ref=sr_1_2?s=home-garden&ie=UTF8&qid=1464843153&sr=1-2&keywords=insulated+ice+bucket

you really just need a vessel that can hold your fermentor. Many people use something like these rope bins to put their fermentor into, and then fill around the outside with water.

u/brionic76 · 2 pointsr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

You two are simply amazing. :)

  1. I am dying for this sound bar to go in my new house. It has bluetooth connectivity, so I can play my beloved music from almost any device! But this is really dreaming big, I know. :)

  2. This ice bucket would also be a nice addition to the house.

And I am absolutely blinded by how good you two look today! Wow. Simply stunning. ;)

    C'mon...gimme.

And thank you both so much for the contest. :D

I put my fermenting carboy in one of these buckets filled with water. Evaporation keep temps 10 degrees cooler and the extra water mass keeps temps stable. They can be had super cheap at Walmart or local grocery store. Throw in an aquarium heater if you want temp control heatwise.

I use both these rectangular containers and this taller tub.

I prefer the Rubbermaid containers since they hold more (which is useful for mix-ins), they are better for limited storage space in my freezer (they are easier to stack and slide into tight places), it's an easier shape out of which to scoop, and I've noticed it protects a smidge better against freezer burn than the Tovolo.

Can you get her the steel ice cubes? Not as the whole gift but as part of it. I think they're really cool but I don't drink scotch.

EDIT: Like these

Was looking to buy this.

u/partyPickle · 1 pointr/daddit

Freeze the milk so that the bags are flat which it looks like you are doing on the right. Then buy some ( we had 4 maybe ) of these http://www.amazon.com/Rubbermaid-White-Ice-Cube-Bin/dp/B0010L1C28/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1346768212&sr=8-1&keywords=ice+cube+box

Write the date on the label and store them oldest to newest left to right all standing up like papers in a filing cabinet.

One suggestion that I give is to replace the ice cubes with these http://www.amazon.com/Stainless-Chilling-Reusable-Whiskey-Beverage/dp/B00KYGRMEW/

They have different sizes to make sure they fit. But they stay cold and they won't melt and make your bong too full.

u/Kduggan281 · 1 pointr/BarBattlestations

I use two of these in there:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0010L1C28/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

One for 1" ice cubes and one for pebble ice.

u/ISIS_Agent-Duchess · 1 pointr/showerbeer

I use these, they work a heck of a lot better and longer than stones.

u/nirreskeya · 1 pointr/cocktails

There seems to be a multitude of them on the market, though IMO most of the visual designs leave a bit to be desired. This isn't what I got, but today at a thrift store I saw the OXO Steel Ice Bucket and it seemed nice and a decent design. It was also only $5; maybe I should have picked up a second.

I really liked the Kiinde system, but I'm so glad I didn't buy it all before my baby was born-- we tested all the major baby bottle brands and she would not take any of them. We finally found one specific bottle that works for her. I'd have hated to have committed to the Kiinde and then be SOL. I pump at work and pour into Lansinoh bags. I've never had one leak and they freeze flat for storage.

Also, if you do go with the Lansinoh bags and plan to freeze, these Ice Bins from Amazon hold the bags that have been frozen flat.

I've successfully used a water bath with my Speidel. I put it in a large plastic tub (similar to this https://smile.amazon.com/United-Solutions-TU0014-Nineteen-Featuring/dp/B005SB1P82/ref=sr_1_2), then filled the tub with water approximately to the same level as the wort inside the fermenter. I placed an aquarium heater (similar to this https://smile.amazon.com/Aquarium-Heater-Submersible-Water-Thermostat/dp/B073P6NW71/ref=sr_1_2_sspa) in the water and set it to the temp I wanted. You may have to fiddle with the temperature to get it where you want, but if you're patient it will work pretty well.

I use something like this. You can usually get combination trays and bins so the trays will fit over the top of the bin if you are tight for space.
