Weekly:

This face wash
Mon,
Tues,
and Wed morning and night.
Then normal,
mild soap Thurs,
Fri,
Sat. Then the saylic wash again Sun morning, followed by
this saylic acid peel for four minutes (and no more! You'll burn yourself!) Wash acid away with cold water. This made deep, dark acne scars disappear over the span of two years (but started in as little as a few weeks) and cured chronic hormonal adult acne where no medicine or soaps would otherwise. I swear by it now.

Daily:

Wash face, apply toner, let dry. Then apply hyaluronic acid serum on damp skin and pat thoroughly, let dry. Then apply retinol serum and let dry. Lastly, apply the best can't-go-wrong moisturizer to top it all off, let dry, and get on with your day.

Seems like a lot, but I had to embark on a "fix your fucked up skin" routine a few months ago, and I gotta say, this routine has done the trick. My pores are tiny, my color is even, my skin is soft, wrinkles have either lessened or disappeared completely, and I feel healthy, and in reality it doesn't take any longer than about five minutes to do.

Oh, and wear sunscreen. Sun isn't bad... but a lot of sun is bad. 15 minutes is good. 50, not so much.

It's Salicylic Acid 20% Gel Peel. It is an actual peel, the first time I used it I couldn't keep it on my face for more than 30 seconds. It still hurts but I can usually go up to 1-2 minutes, but I don't need more time. I use it once a month.

Follow the manufacturers directions.

>Directions:
Before applying, read accompanying procedure. Cleanse the skin throughly. Apply peel evenly for 2-4 minutes depending on skin sensitivity, with an appropriate applicator pad. Rinse generously with cool water. May repeat treatment at 1-2 times per week, up to 4-6 weeks in the absence of skin irritation. Peel may be layered to enhance effectiveness.

Here is my current routine, please let me know what you think:

AM:

  • cleanse with hydro peptide cleanser. It has a very fine exfoliating texture.
  • apply La Roche-Posay Active C
  • apply sunscreen, La Roche-Posay Anthelios 60 Ultra Light Sunscreen

    PM:

  • cleanse with hydro peptide cleanser.
  • apply moisturizer, either La Roche Posay Hydraphase or Lumene nourishing night cream

Once in a while (I think I'll start to try to do this at least a couple of times a week), I do a chemical peel using Perfect Image Salicylic Acid 20% Gel Peel.

I use the same moisturizer and C serum for my eyes. Not sure if it's worth getting specific creams for the eyes.

Background: I have hormonal acne. It was very severe early on until I got on the pill and other long term treatment. Nowadays it's much better, although I do break out regularly on the chin, I still have some scar etc.

I started the current routine few weeks back but I think it helps. I'm breaking out a bit less I think and my skin, in particular around my eyes and upper cheek is not as thin and dry (or dehydrated?) as before. My skin seems healthier. I used to cleanse with Clean & Clear facial cleanser and moisturize only when my skin started to flake at some place.

I may have to switch products because of the cost. I am a big fan of Laroche Posay products though. Considering changing cleanser at least, maybe cerave foaming facial cleanser.

    Any inputs welcome! thanks

I have this one that's 20%. It seems that as long as you're careful and watch how your skin reacts to it, you should have some pretty good results. I believe the recommended time for first-timers is 30 seconds, and then leaving it on longer and longer (up to 1-2 minutes according to the instructions) once you know that your skin can handle it. (Someone please add to this if I'm mistaken or have some facts wrong :) )
