I'm having a look at this SD card but I'm not sure if it's compatible with the Wii U. I've looked at forums, but there's no one or definitive answer. Some forums state that SDXC cards won't work with the Wii U.

SanDisk Ultra 64 GB SDXC Class 10, advertised as up to 80 MB/S which I though would be more than enough, but as you said it looks more like a limitation of the slot
