The University of Washington had boosters that paid for the best lawyers and with all the political connections to the school and the need to win at all costs, so many crimes by football players were just ignored. There's an entire book written about it. From a review except:
...a riveting but sordid tale of the University of Washington’s 2000 football squad, which included at least 24 players arrested or charged with crimes during their years at the university, crimes for which they did little or no time. Complicit were university officials, team coaches, local police and prosecutors, members of the media, even victims, all in the name of sustaining a winning program. Some of the crimes were egregious: a tight end under investigation for suspicion of rape; a safety who, according to police, broke his wife’s nose and arm; and a linebacker under investigation for robbing and shooting a drug dealer.
The entire program was corrupt but was never punished.
There's a whole book covering the college team he was on called Scoreboard, Baby. It's a much longer version of that article (it's by the same authors). It's well written, but reading it was difficult. As someone who really enjoyed college and still enjoys college football, it was a real reality check. That guy is fucking disgusting.

If you enjoyed reading this here’s some other stories you might like, but you don’t have to take my word for it.
Straight up though, I wish I was a powerful enough booster do things like this. I wouldn’t do it, but it would be cool to know I could.
