It's definitely not body armor, at least not any kind I'm familiar with. It looks a lot more like some kind of FLC, which is basically just a fabric vest with molle straps on it to weave pouches on. Homeboy here is basically wearing the tacticool equivalent of a fanny pack to go to class.

What about a flc vest?
It’s covered in molle and lightweight.
Here’s a amazon link to one I recently ordered.

I would suggest a surplus Fighting Load Carrier. It's basically a vest with molle webbing all over it. Here's an example

They're pretty adjustable, and the long height helps with combat corset look. One of the females in my platoon in basic had the same problem you do, and several I deployed with.

Additionally, you might try something like what I run, a Condor padded battle belt, on a harness, with a hydration carrier on the back. I put some mag pouches, and a dump pouch. Works great. I am the USGI medium-regular cookie cutter shape, and was able to get mine so it sits just above my hips and doesn't really move much. You do need a backpack for extra gear, but that usually stays at a spawn station. Basically this with a hydration carrier rigged to it. It also keeps your chest clear so you can go prone easier.

I have an army surplus FLC vest. They're $11 on Amazon. I'll be doing a video on mine next.

3 pocket magazine shingle pouches are $7. It's molle so you can add pouches here and there over time and in any configuration you want.

Mine currently. I'm still adding to it:

You could try finding someone that knows how to sew and see if they can add an inner pocket or you can laugh at the crazy-looks you'll get..
One <> New chest pocket and enjoy the knowledge that you could carry a small vape shop if you wanted.
