I use syncthing to sync my important stuff with a raspberry pi zero with a HDD connected to it at home. that way all my data is stored on the hdd, in the event my phone gets lost/stolen/broken. the setup is really cheap, i use a drive like this, with a raspberry pi zero w, and a simple USB power supply. everything for just under 50 euro's, with space to spare!
the pi is on 24/7, but because the drive turns off when not in use, but the power consumption is much lower than my daily phone usage, so not expensive at all.
and if you are using the pi, another thing i run on it is pi-hole, which is a network ad-blocker, so i can easily block most ads at home, and with wireguard(a vpn program), i can make a secure connection to my home to also block ads on-the-go, or make my whole connection secure(which is pretty slow, but usable).
TL;DR: buy a pi+drive, never lose data, block ads, and have a secure connection.

Why exactly does it need to be "solid state"? The usual reasons are going to be size, speed, or physical durability, and this contraption loses to spinning rust on all counts.
So let's say you got a really good deal on 64GB flash drives. Microcenter has them for $6/each, and I can't find anything on amazon cheaper than that. I can't find this 14-port hub anywhere online, but here's a 13-port hub for $20. That means this unbearably-slow, dubiously-reliable 832GB "drive" costs about $98 before taxes and shipping.
A brand new 1TB conventional USB hard drive costs less than half that.
I don't care how much time or money you have, there is literally no reason to do this.
Here’s a similar model on Amazon for $44. You can also buy it used in good condition for $39. I’m not sure how much that is in your currency or if that is still too expensive for you, but I hope it helps.

Just hooks up through the usb port. That is an easy solution if you don't want to open it up.
I would upgrade to Windows 10, but that is mostly personal preference, I hated windows 8. That is plenty of storage so that is good. You might want to invest in an external hard drive so that you can back up your stuff on there. You can get a 1TB one for only $45 here.
The RAM is definitely on the lower end and the processor is a little old, but I doubt either of those things will ever be a big issue. You should be fine.

You could buy an external USB attached hard drive, and then tell Backblaze to use that as a "Temporary Data Drive". This 1 TByte Seagate drive from Amazon is $44: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07CRG7BBH/
You could get a 500 GByte drive for as little as $18 on Amazon, but I like the "Seagate" brand name and the fact that it comes with a USB enclosure already built, and it's 1 TByte so you get a little spare headroom.

Alternatively, you could find some other way to backup that one very large file, and exclude that file from your Backblaze Personal Backup?
I would get a cheap external hard drive like the one here and plug it in and copy the files over.

Something caused that. Impossible to know what though. May never happen again - or you might have hardware going bad.

You can't beat that with a stick.
Buy one of them then select a backup program - I like Acronis. Schedule incremental weekly image backups of the C: drive to the external drive. Then, forget you have done any of that. Just leave it the fuck alone.
Next time this happens you can be up and running in a fraction of the time for a fraction of the work.
Plus - eventually when you do something dumb, like break some damned thing - fixing it is as simple as going back to the last good backup before you messed stuff up.
You spend a bit of money to save a hell of a lot of heartache down the road.
also! if it does work and you do get it to turn on, back up as much of your stuff as you can! if the display is working but the keyboard or trackpad does not for whatever reason, try putting it in target disk mode if you have the proper equipment; heres a tutorial on how to do that! you should scroll to scenario #3, using a migration assistant, if you try this.

I really hope you're able to get it up and running soon-- Macs are weirdly finicky and unfortunately this stuff can happen without warning signs which is why regular backups are good! if you need an external hard drive we usually recommend Seagate to students at my school (but were all artists so we need loads of storage, so you may want one with less space if you aren't going to use up a whole TB)
