Yup, it's called the Active Interface shoe - not to be confused with the Multi Interface shoe that are on the more recent Sony cameras.
There are a few microphones that should work, such as this one. Thing is, the AIS was always a bit spotty when it came to compatability between accessories and devices even with official Sony accessories.
Sony also made a microphone input adapter for it at some point but I'm having a hard time finding any links to it. Looks like a little barrel with a pink jack plug.
