I did the same. I don't always need a mini flashlight, a prytool and a mini lighter. So I added small 2.5cm carabiners to easily remove and add what I need. My keys are also hooked up to a smaller nite ize locking s- biner to easily romove from the main keyring

My dog constantly leaps through tall grass/prarie/shrubs, goes swimming, and her gear takes a lot of abuse. We haven't lost a clip yet in the year and a half since we started using them.
I still do double up on the clips. They're small enough and you get a ton in that order. Here's what it looks like on my dog:

However, they're also small enough where they can't fit on some of my dog's collars.
