These are all out of the delightful Cabin in the Woods Companion, which also has the whole script. It's always nice to actually give credit when scanning half a book and posting it to the Internet.

I saw the film in 4K at my local theater (twice!). Both times in 2D. I almost drove 150 miles to Portland to see it in 3D, but since the 3D was done in post, it didn't excite me enough to make the trek.

Oh, I also bought the The Official Visual Companion. It was great to see the creatures up-close and in such detail. And it was interesting to see the differences between the original script and the dialogue of the final cut. The companion was an excellent treat and well-worth the $13.24.

Okay, some questions:

1) As I mentioned above, I saw the film in 4K. What's the native resolution of the film? (assuming it's digital). Were there theaters that displayed the movie in 8K?

2) The 3D conversion process done in post - for or against?

3) Will there be a "Director's cut" or similar edition sometime down the road?

4) Did you have any interest in Lovecraft before (or after) making this film? (There has never been a Lovecraft film that did the mythos any justice, imo.)

5) What was the deal with Australia? Did it ever hit theaters there?

6) Are you upset that the studio allocated almost no money for marketing your film? The advertising campaign could have been tied to the Marvel Avengers and really boosted your box office receipts. Easy money, no?

7) South Korean films - Do you watch them? Do they influence your work? Your cinematography and editing were just perfect. It reminded me of some of the best of modern Korean cinema.

And just allow me to say that I absolutely LOVED your film - movie of the year for me. And I'm a 46 year old man whose favorite movies are films like Wim Wenders Wings of Desire and 2001 A Space Odyssey.

BONUS (not a question): If you've never seen it, can I suggest you watch DyE - Fantasy? [NSFW - cartoon sexuality and gore, in that order] It's the closest thing to good Lovecraft-inspired work that I've ever seen (besides your film).

Planning on spending a day this weekend going through everything. Also got the book for my birthday so it's going to be a nerd-tastic weekend.
