I got an X56 to replace my old X52 Pro but was deeply underwhelmed by it and was really happy to return it for a refund when it turned out to have a fault with the throttle not going beyond 80%

Ended up going for this - the Thrustamaster T.1600M FCS instead
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Thrustmaster-T-16000M-FCS-Hotas-PC/dp/B01H6KXGDY
which has now been working really nicely in ED and SC for a year now

If you are low on funds: the T.Flight X is a perfect beginners HOTAS. Cheap and reliable.

The next step would be a T16000M FCS, also great value for your money.

x56 is not a quality improvement.

If anything get new version of THIS if you don't want to shell money on CH (I find it better than Warthog) or Warthog itself. You don't need rudder pedals if you don't want them (those sticks have no twist) CH has mini joystick that is great for Yaw - I use it for yaw and vertical thrust while having horizontal thrusters on a 4 switch on the throttle backside. This lets me aim as accurately as I would with a mouse.

The downside is that CH is expensive and looks like Commodore 64 sticks - but it is solid and you could smack a mutant with it for critical hit. Throttle is odd as it is a slider not an arc one and there is no tension resistance (it does not self-centre) but I like it that way although some people don't.

Don't get me wrong, x52Pro is great, but it is great when it works - and about 18% are DOA and further 27% are returned in the first year, and those are not very good statistics.

From what I hear the T1600 is the best bang for buck Hotas

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Thrustmaster-T-16000M-FCS-Hotas-PC/dp/B01H6KXGDY

I wouldn't say Rudder pedals are a must, I've been using a twisty stick for nearly a decade.

Head tracking is a must, I dont have VR but the people who I know who have VR used it for a bit then fell back to using TrackIR or something similar.

Please do not buy trackIR the camera is great but the headset is god awful.

I thourgly reccomend Track Hat pro for the head mount - https://trackhat.org/trackhat-clip-plus/

As for the camera if you google you can find alternative solutions such as using webcams and free software.

BoS is probably the best game to start with, buy it on the Il2 website as more of the money goes to the developers. The game links with steam I believe and any DLC you buy later on gets unlocked automatically. When you DL the game it downloads everything so even if you dont own it you can still see the planes in-game (AI or other players in MP). There's an added bonus that online you don't need to own the DLC to play on the map, you will be restricted to the planes you have purchased though. For example say you have BoS only, you can play online on the BoK map but you will be restricted to BoS aircraft for flying.

IMO the order you should buy the expansions:

  • BOS (Stalingrad)
  • BOK (Kuban)
  • BOM (Moscow)

BoBp (BodenPlatter) is coming soon but its not released, I would probably put that 2nd or top when it comes out.

Here is a spreadsheet I made with all the of the Modules for IL2, the planes, maps and cost including a list of released/unreleased content.

Hi, I'm only an occasional lurker on this sub but I can help a little here. I was searching for info and stumbled on an Italian store listing three variations, HOTAS, stick only and a 'Flight Pack.'

You may take it with a grain of salt since some store speculatively list to draw early pre-orders, but Amazon in Germany have the same products up:

HOTAS

Flight Stick

Flight Pack

I assume the Flight pack includes the pedals?

I think Thrustmaster's own website shows the throttle separately as well, and surely they'd be crazy not to sell the items individually. I'm sure it will be possible to do stick only.

u/Bribase · 3 pointsr/starcitizen

The budget recommendation is either the T16000m HOTAS or dual stick configuration.

u/sherlockzor · 3 pointsr/belgium

The other brand you mean is taken over by logitech so just look at them /u/Nerdiator if you're interested in those x series.

Tbh the best cheapest one I can recommend is https://www.amazon.de/Thrustmaster-T16000M-HOTAS-System-Software/dp/B01H6KXGDY

that or go all the way with the Warthog, downside you'll need the foot pedals for yaw with the warthog so it's really quite expensive imo, but it's the coolest as well.

u/cavortingwebeasties · 3 pointsr/hotas

Thrustmaster FCS is exactly this... and outperforms many HOTAS that cost more.

https://www.amazon.co.uk/ThrustMaster-3935075-Thrustmaster-T16000M-Hotas/dp/B01H6KXGDY ...of course in UK it costs more than anywhere else (Brexit?), but it's still pretty close to your range. Outside UK it's $120 USD...

  1. The T16000m FCS is excellent and is £91 on Amazon. It's also available with pedals for £166.

  2. January of 2015 would be 2.0.

  • 2.1 - Engineers - Added the engineers, NPCs who will modify/improve your ship's components if you can get them the materials.
  • 2.2 - Guardians - Added ship-launched fighters. Certain ships can equip fighter hangars, allowing them to launch a small parasite fighter under AI control to provide additional firepower. I have a writeup about all this stuff.
  • 2.3 - Commanders - Adds the character creator (customize your character's appearance) and multicrew, which allows up to 3 players to play in a single ship (only the largest ships can have 3. Most can only have 2 and some can't have any additional crew) The owner flies it and the other two take rolls as gunner (controlling turrets and other modules assigned to them by the owner) and fighter pilot (allowing you to have 2 fighters, one AI, one human, in the fight for even more firepower). This was just released and bugs are still being worked out a bit.
  • Ships have also gotten some rebalancing, with the T7 getting a large buff, and military ships getting some extra slots for combat stuff.

Or you can go a little bit higher than Saitek X52 and get Thrustmaster T16000M FCS HOTAS. I was in the same position as you a few weeks ago. And i am glad i chose this one. Be aware though, the throttle has no deadzone like T-Flight HOTAS and many others. But after a few hours, you'll be able to "feel" where the zero is if you use it as full range throttle. Some people use it as forward-only and bind a button to toggle it into backward throttle.

u/DhulKarnain · 2 pointsr/GameDeals

Thank you for such a elaborate answer. That paints a very clear picture. Even though it's quite a bit more expensive here in Europe for me (on German Amazon it comes to around $150 with delivery to my country), I'll definitely keep it at the top of the shortlist at my next purchase.

u/hon0 · 2 pointsr/hotas

>And the difference between this and X-56 in price is like 20-40 US dollars.

 Here in France the Logitech G X56 is at 264.95€ while the FCS Hotas is at 119.90€ (10€ discount at the moment). Looking at the reviews of both the X56 Rhino and the RGB.. Doesn't inspire confiance..

Thrustmaster Hotas is a great starter and excellent for Elite. I had 2, but finally decided to replace with a better model and bought this one. Not exactly budget, but a great combo. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Thrustmaster-T-16000M-FCS-Hotas-PC/dp/B01H6KXGDY/ref=sr_1_1?crid=1MP5313GQ64XW&keywords=thrustmaster+16000&qid=1563824837&s=gateway&sprefix=thrutmaster+1%2Caps%2C133&sr=8-1

I don't know how cheap you're going for but this hotas is decent for the price https://www.amazon.co.uk/Thrustmaster-T-16000M-FCS-Hotas-PC/dp/B01H6KXGDY
But for VR I would really suggest to get good HOTAS really, it's worth it
And don't devote yourself from flight simming because you're getting old, if you enjoy it, just do it

u/IkeaStoolSample · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

bruh: r/hoggit/

But in that price range, I would say that Thrustmaster's new FCS Hotas is probably the best choice.

Germany? Na, dann könntma ja in Deutsch weiterschreiben, is a bisserl einfacher ;)

Ich hab mir den hier gekauft und kann ihn soweit sehr weiterempfehlen!
https://www.amazon.de/Thrustmaster-T16000M-HOTAS-System-Software/dp/B01H6KXGDY/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1520342632&sr=8-1&keywords=thrustmaster+t16000m

Not really, unless you get motion sickness from flying a space ship. If you like sitting VR content all sort of racing simulators, flying simulators (IL2 Sturmovik: Battle of Stalingrad, Battle of Moscow, Battle of Kuban <- these are absolutely fucking amazing on VR), War Thunder and Elite: Dangerous (you fly your ship in space) are for you. Granted, gamepad is a tad bit too simplistic for any of these, bar maybe Elite: Dangerous. There's very nice bundle from Thrustmaster for decent price that is totally worth it (build quality might not be top notch but sensor technology is the same as in joysticks for hundreds of dollars more meaning they will never lose their accuracy and will most likely outlive you before they fail) that will do for all flight sims and Elite. For racing simualtors you really want decent wheel with force feedback, gamepad is good only for arcade games (no, Forza or Grand Turismo is not simulator - Asseto Corsa on the other hand is) - like, there's nothing even remotely comparable to rFactor2 or Dirt Rally with direct drive ffb wheel controller, it's absolutely fucking amazing.

Click other buying options and look at the used ones under Amazon warehouse deals. There's a like new condition stick for £83 but they'll apply a further 20% off at checkout making it £66, same for the others.
If the link gets removed it's just on Amazon.co.uk :)

u/IncuBMaddy · 1 pointr/EliteDangerous

Indeed this is less costly, but really an old model (an I am pretty sure you can find used one very cheap like 20£).

But if you can save up you should go for this one: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Thrustmaster-T-16000M-FCS-Hotas-PC/dp/B01H6KXGDY?ref_=bl_dp_s_mw_1656523031

The throttle is actually what is interesting. And you can buy stick and throttle separately on the amazone trust master store.
