First 3D color hologram? What a joke. Concave mirror holograms have been around since mirrors have been around. In fact you can buy these toys These "researchers" just attached a laser to the apex.
What would be cool if you make one like those illusion disks. So when she opens it, it appears on the top surface, but when she goes to grab it she can't because it's actually inside. You'd need to make that version bigger though and doing the internal curves in wood would be tricky.
