[This] (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002UC8PN0/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1) is what I replaced the power panel with. A little drastic solution, but I also wanted to upgrade from 30 amp to 50 amp and I was doing a full gut so it made sense. With a 50 amp system, you are actually getting 100 amp of power (as long as the outlet supports it) so you can be pretty propane independent. It also has modern smart charging so it will quickly and safely charge up your battery and keep it topped off.

There really aren't that many lithium ion RV batteries available. I would say there's really no affordable or consumer grade ones available at all. The upgrade of choice currently is AGM batteries that do not outgas hydrogen, making it safer. People also hook up 2 6v golf cart batteries in series to take advantage of [generally higher Ah rating for the golf batteries] (https://www.amazon.com/Trojan-Volt-Battery-T-105/dp/B004UJXPYU/ref=sr_1_1_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1520347978&sr=8-1&keywords=trojan+golf+cart+batteries). Hooking them up in series doubles to voltage to 12v.

Having said that, there really is no reason to invest heavily on batteries unless you plan to boondock for an extended length of time and have a way of charging your battery yourself, like solar. Batteries are expensive and heavy and unless you take proper care, can degrade quickly. I actually run with no battery in the RV itself because I always camp at where I can plug in. I have not missed it at all. I will probably install an AGM battery this season now that I've had my AS for 2 years and have a decent idea about what my usage pattern is.
