I'm assuming you have these headphones.. To be honest, it sounds like an incredibly bad case of interference. Or a faulty transmitter. Perhaps try getting in touch with Turtle Beach about the issue.
Sorry man, but just stereo. Maybe you can still return it and get something else? Keep in mind that most, if not all, 360/PS3/PS4 wireless headsets will work.

They connect via USB for power, and SPDIF (Optical) audio stream. Come with a decoder that enhances the audio and is a wireless headset, minus that you have to have it plugged into the controller for chat as the mute button won't work till a future firmware update from Sony.
Are they purposely making it hard for headset companies? haha :)

I use the Turtle Beach PX4 (http://www.amazon.com/Wireless-Surround-PlayStation-Headset-TBS-3276-01-4/dp/B00EI4V3X2), and I love it. I have it set up to work with my PS4, Xbox One, and Xbox 360 through an optical audio switcher (http://www.amazon.com/Nyrius-SW100-Digital-Selector-Compatible/dp/B000812QC6), and everything works perfectly. You do need to pick up the chat cable for the appropriate console separately if you want to use the microphone while gaming, but those are also available on Amazon and / or Turtle Beach's website.

Even though it's marketed as a 'Playstation' headset it's actually compatible with the X1 with the chat adaptor as well if you want to chat
If it's just a wireless headset for sound you want, this will do the job perfectly and being Optical, you get the full dolby surround experience.
I personally love it because I use the same headset for my X1, X360 and PC with an Optical switching box.
Dolby surround across the board... nice.

Fantastic sound quality, just bare in mind with these the headset is only fully wireless when listening only - For use of the Mic you will have to use a lead running into your DS4
