You would do significantly better going with a 144Hz monitor BUT with either GSync or FreeSync (depending if you go NVidia or AMD).

You will actually not see any dropped frames going this route which I assume is why you are trying to go with the BenQ monitor.

GSync / FreeSync > more Hz in almost every situation.

Something like this will likely outperform the BenQ in day to day , hey I actually notice the difference style gaming.

I got a refurb of this one for ~250 it's been a whole year with no issues to date, and the built in speakers means I can use it as a TV (which we do for watching Football in the bedroom)

Edit: I am currently on a 4460 with a RX 580 8GB XFX and the buttery smoothness was instantly noticed even in just windows desktop actions.

According to PCPartpicker, you have 1 option, the XG2701. I own the the XG2401 and can attest that it is a great FreeSync monitor for the money.

I know this is a little out of the price range you are looking but I just got 2 of these to go with the RX 480 I just bought.

Totally worth it.... massive improvement and come with F-sync

Hmm, thanks for those recommendations. Those are definitely beautiful monitors, but I'm not quite sure I'm ready to spend that much on a monitor yet. Gsync doesn't matter much to me as I've never really had any sort of tearing before. I'm thinking of something like this. Do you know any off the top of your head that are in that price range with those sorts of specs? There are plenty but I'm not sure if there are some regarded as the best. Maybe this or this.

Not sure. I'm pissed because I just ordered this and returns are a bitch. Mine may be better rated though, fairly new to the game.

Thanks! I've flip flopped a few times and had the TCL 49S405 purchased but canceled and went with this 144hz panel. I'll look at getting a TV later if I feel it's still too small!

Time to get a decent gaming monitor eh? Here's a cheaper one that came out last year that I use.

Are the colors of this

any good? I'm new to all this technology and I've always thought Asus was the best brand. All the stuff I own (monitors, laptops, etc.) are all from Asus.

u/TheRebelWizard · 1 pointr/buildapc

Very cool. Viewsonic is actually the one I was looking at! Thanks for the advice.

Would you consider the 27" upgrade worth the price increase?

Also can you use HDMI or do I need to use the display port for maximum value?

One last question. When using a dual monitor setup, I would like my primary gaming monitor to be this one (whichever one I buy for the Fsync), and my secondary one as a google chrome/system monitoring, misc, etc, screen. Are there any issues if that monitor is my old one which is 60hz and non-free sync? Will I have any compatibility issues there?

Thanks for all the replies everyone!

I was going to go with this model origonally, but my dad (I'm 15) said that viewsonic has "bad" build quality and refused to give me an answer when i asked why. He wanted to go with the current asus monitor because "Look at how many reviews it has!". Eventually I gave up and said if the asus one has any problems, we are going with the viewsonic no questions asked. I will definitely show my dad your response, so if you wanna say anything to him, go ahead and say it.

EDIT: I am attached to 27" 1080p.

EDIT 2: I more or less did my own research on the monitors.

FreeSync, 27", 144 Hz, and should do wonders.

Viewsonic XG2701 is just the 27" version of the XG2401, which is regarded as one of the best 1080p/144Hz monitors you can get

u/Rynerik · 1 pointr/buildapc

You could take a look at this?

Little cheaper, too.
