They have bigger ones, and cheap too. Here's a 6TB external for $153:

Apparently Amazon also has the 6TB version for $162. Can't find much about what drives usually end up in those though... apparently likely WD Blues.

TL;DR: Bought a 6TB external for back up use, when booting computer with external plugged in computer gets stuck at this screen forever not being able to access safe mode/BIOS/ Boot order options.
____
Recently I bought a 6TB WC my book to use as a back up drive for the 4 drives in my desktop. I have been using the Windows 10 default backup accessed through Start Menu > Options > Update & Security > Backup and it is called File History. It works great and I backed up a ton of my stuff on my drives to it but...
Ever since I got it, when I boot my desktop (I turn it off every night as it is in my bedroom) my computer gets stuck at this screen. Note this is before I can even access menus my pressing F8/F9/F10. Nothing works it simply gets stuck at this screen for ever. If I unplug the drive, reboot the computer, it works 100% fine. Then I can just plug the drive back in and do back ups and it works fine.
Why is this happening though. Why ever since I simply plugged in an external hdd to my computer can it no longer boot? If it matters the external is plugged directly into a 3.0 USB in the back of my computer, not into a hub or anything.
Third attempt since I can't URL

I'm a big fan of DIY solutions, and think it would be cheaper to set up a local server that does the same thing. Grabbing a new 1TB WD Blue drive off of amazon is about the same as 4 months of storage on google drive and dropbox is about the same.
If you like having a cloud-like service, take a look at freenas where you can set up a network share and record directly to that. You can set it up on any old computer you have lying around, which is nice. I have mine running on an old e-machines computer from 2002.
edit: If you want to go crazy heres a 6TB external drive for $160 which should last you for just about two years of daily 30 minute uploads.
mybook is $210, where is $240 coming from? https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/product/LcHRsY/western-digital-my-book-6tb-external-hard-drive-wdbbgb0060hbk-nesn?history_days=730
actually, amazon is $180 or less for the past year https://ca.camelcamelcamel.com/Western-Digital-External-Drive-USB-3-0-WDBBGB0060HBK-NESN/product/B01LQQHKZY
unless there are specific models you're talking about?
I'm shopping around for an external hard drive for my Plex library. Should I go for Seagate that has 1 year warranty or WD that has 3 years?
Seagate:

WD: https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B01LQQHKZY?tag=pcp0f-20&linkCode=ogi&th=1&psc=1
Is 20$ worth it for 2 more years?

Normal 3.5" SATA drive with some triangle shaped USB 3.0 adapter, only has two philips screws on it, so it was easy to remove. The hard part was ripping away the plastic case to remove the drive.

I managed to pick up two of the blue 6TB My Books in your picture and one of the older Mybooks in the square case (https://www.amazon.com/Book-Desktop-External-Drive-WDBBGB0060HBK-NESN/dp/B01LQQHKZY). Cleaned out three stores.
Thanks
Any idea what causes it? Seems so weird that 8TB has to be like that whereas every other size is fine.
When you switched to 6TB drives are they still MyBooks? as in this one https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B01LQQHKZY
WD 6TB Elements only has a 1 Year warranty.
WD 6TB MyBook (for $7 more) has a 3 Year warranty.
They both have a "blue drive".
