Reddit reviews Wooden: A Lifetime of Observations and Reflections On and Off the Court

Shortly after I started coaching gymnastics one of my favorite teachers during my senior year of High School gave me a book called Wooden: A Lifetime of Observations and Reflections On and Off the Court. I was hesitant to read it. I thought the book wouldn't help me, because he coached basketball, which doesn't have much in common with gymnastics (I was naive, don't judge too harshly). I ended up giving it a try and I read the whole book in pretty much one sitting.

The way John Wooden thinks and expresses himself as a coach is pretty universal, extending well beyond sports and it helped me a lot as a coach, and a person. I'd suggest the book to anyone, it's a great read, but I'd strongly urge any coaches, or athletes for the matter, to read it. It's pretty eye opening.

One of my favorite books was written by a coach and I think it would benefit you (and the coachee) to read it! It's A Lifetime of Observations and Reflections On and Off the Court by the legendary Coach Wooden. He was a basketball coach, but his writing is so inspirational and I try to apply his philosophies to all areas of my life. This book is also a really easy read, with many pages having only a couple lines each. It's great to pick up and read a few pages, and really get your mind in the right place.
