$31.54 plus shipping, which is like $6 I think. IPD is awesome but more expensive.

$18.19 with Prime if you get the Warehouse Deals thermostat, but no bolts (too expensive to bother).

Pick your poison. If $20 is a big deal to you right now then go Amazon, but hurry before that cheap t-stat disappears.

The fix is easy - pull the upper coolant hose and have a container to catch the coolant. Use a wrench to get the coolant sensor off. Use a star bit to get the thermostat housing off. Get the old thermostat out, pop the new one in with seal, cover and bolts back in, new sensor in the housing, hose back on. Start the car, let it come up to temp, then pour the coolant back in the overflow reservoir. Top off with water if necessary. Maybe a 20 minute job.

I have the head pulled and pistons removed, but I don't know what I'm looking for here. Based on these photos, should I replace the pistons or just the rings? Also, do these valves look shot? Anything else you guys see that might need to be done? I will be honing the cylinders.

I am planning on getting a rebuild kit - maybe this one or this one, but I'm not sure what all I should replace.

I've looked around for some bike kits, and the 4 stroke engine is currently out of my price range. Do you think this one would be a good place to start? : https://www.amazon.com/Ridgeyard-Bicycle-Motorized-Stroke-Petrol/dp/B012FTZH42/ref=cm_cr_arp_d_product_top?ie=UTF8

I see references to top end with and without pistons. Personally, I lump pistons in with the bottom end since it's part of the rotating assembly.

I wanted to get this but it was out of stock everywhere so I’m gonna try my luck with this one

.
Pull the cylinder off and make sure it's not scarred. If it's okay then order this kit and a gasket.
If the cylinder is scratched, then just post it for 200 on craigslist and move on

Is it though? More reliable and convenient for sure. But similar price? Most of the AFM delete kits I find are in the 5-600 dollar range, and that's not including install if you're not mechanically inclined enough to do it yourself (I'm not).

I bought one of these from Range Tech on sale at the time for $150 and it was the best thing I've ever done for my 06 Monte. Burns literally zero oil now, whereas before my consumption before was similar to OPs. No complaints at all besides when I forget to disable it before going in for an inspection sticker here in MA and failing OBD readiness.

Whatever route you go... agreed 100% that killing DOD/AFM is crucial for these cars.

One last question if you don't mind, how did do you disable traction control completely? You're right that the button doesn't do much. Even with it off the car still cuts engine power when it detects too much wheel spin. Most annoying thing ever.

What exactly do you mean? I'm aware that it's possible to assemble a kit from separate parts, and I've considered it. However, I'm speaking of these:

The 4 stroke bike kits that you DO buy assembled.

Thanks for the comment!
