LOL. I'll try to make a long story short. My dog had cancer, anal gland cancer, and unfortunately, it made her have to poop a lot, or at least give her the feeling that she had to poop. So, to make her more comfortable, we got a dog door that she could use during the day while we were at work. Kooky an indoor cat, figured out the dog door in about 5 minutes. One day, she brought in a small lizard, another day she brought in a bird. Luckily, both were still alive, but it was not cool with me. What you see around her neck is a collarthat is suppose to warn birds and other animals (with it's bright colors and bell) that she is about to attack. So far so good. Of course, now the dog door is no longer needed. I just keep the collar on her, cause it's awesome. :)

TLDR: It's the Birdsbesafe collar.

It is a breakaway collar.

I got this [glow-in-the-dark collar](http://www.amazon.com/8-Inch-Safeloc-Breakaway-Adjustable-Reflective/dp/B003V4ARW8 "Amazon product page") for my own grey kitty. It's not a perfect solution, as her hair usually covers up a lot of the collar, but it's saved her from getting stepped on a couple of times already.

So this is a pretty awesome contest idea!

Here is my list:
Something I want - A gift card was the only thing I would decide on for this category. Why a gift card? I'm indecisive!
Something I need - This soldering tip is something I very much need.
Something ^^(for ^^my ^^cat) to wear - This bow tie would be hilariously awesome on my cat Lovey.
Something to read - This book on music theory is something I want to read to learn a bit from.
Something to watch - The Big Lebowski is one of my favorite movies, and I don't own it!
Something to listen to - This is the new Modest Mouse album I have been waiting (literal) years for!

Here is your clue:
It's time to relax, it's time to kick back,
It's no longer time to hold back!
Let loose the gates, release the hounds,
And grab a chair to sit around.
It's in the air, it's in my head,
And soon my opinion will be set.
I like it, I hate it, I want more of it!

But in the end, my thirst is fed,
And nothing more than thanks can be said.

I tried! :D

These wipes for when kitty gets into minor messies

And this extra gentle wash so you can give her baffs and play!

A leash to go on walks

You're going to need a tag in case kitty wanders off, and a collar of course!

Deshedding brush to control the hairs

Clippers to trim the nails

I mean I'd say just buy yourself something and give the kitty the box because they will love it. But if that doesn't sound that exciting there's always this so they always look stylish.

I've been happy with this one: http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B003V4ARW8/ref=mp_s_a_1_7?qid=1422660395&sr=8-7&pi=AC_SX110_SY165_QL70&dpPl=1&dpID=41-FW1IpCOL&ref=plSrch

It has a bell, glows in the dark, and is quick release. When I put their collars on I make sure it can't fit over their head, but I can easily fit two fingers under it.

Also about the door dashing. We keep a small tin of pennies right by the door and shake it if they look like they are going to bolt out. They caught on pretty quick. We hardly have to do it at all anymore.

u/dontcryferguson · 2 pointsr/cats

What is the collar made out of?

They are very sensitive little animals. My cat nixed two other collars before we switched to Beastie Bands, and once on, he acted like it wasn't even there. I can fit about a finger and a half underneath, but it is very stretch and would break or slip off if it got caught on anything.

My cat also HATES tags and cannot function with a normal-sized tag on. I went and found an etsy.com listing online for "smallest pet tag" and got him a tiny round one that is maybe half an inch in diameter that simply says, "INDOOR CAT" with our phone number. He is fine with this tiny tag, but refuses any others.

So long as your collar is not a flea or chemical collar, I doubt it's causing them pain, but it could just be discomfort/dislike. Perhaps try a different brand; but if nothing else, be sure he is microchipped if he's going to refuse to wear anything at all.

I started when he was super little, so he's used to it. I also wonder if this type of harness might feel a little less constraining.

I would say, if the cat has never worn a harness or gone outside before, you might want to try just the harness for 10-15 minutes for a few days before you actually try going outside with it on.

  1. I have 3 wonderful cats, [Spoons, Charly & Nona] (http://imgur.com/XYhveFe) and they have [this tie] (http://www.amazon.com/dp/B009Y32VZG/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pd_nS_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=SB72OW29MGM1&coliid=I28K9OJN7KG43Z) would look super dapper on Spoons!
  2. Buy a clicker. It's a tiny plastic box with a metal flap on the inside that you press and it makes a clicking noise. It's a great way to train your pets. They cost about $1 and are near the checkout at the pet stores. There are plenty of videos on YouTube that can give you great ideas. [Like this!] (http://youtu.be/7TxvHDVX2rQ)
  3. A Lily by any other name

Thanks so much for the contest! Lily is super cute!

Hello and welcome! My name's Harley. This place is awesome and I'm happy you're here! :) I cook a ton too, let's swap recipes.

I think the silliest thing on my WL right now is this rhinestone kitty collar. I am a total cat mommy and love to spoil my princess. Here's an example of her sitting on me and me not moving for hours. I hope think other cat parents understand!!

The zoo is so much fun! I hope you have a great time :) Definitely something that you never grow out of. What is your favorite animal at the zoo? I love seeing all the big cats and the penguins. Also, hell yeah for East Coast ladies!

This collar would look wonderful on my pet Moose.

Thanks for hosting!

Edit: get your zoo on gurl

Welcome back. Fancy contest! What's the gamer site link? Here is something I want for my cat because she would look addorable in it but there's stuff in real life I need more so I haven't bought it.

u/MrsJingo · 1 pointr/funny

That is 100% not a breakaway collar. Breakaway collars have a plastic buckle designed to either snap or pop open when pulled. This collar is one of these fully elastic with a metal buckle like you have on a belt. Although the cat is unlikely to strangle itself with it, it can get caught in it's mouth or under the front leg if the cat tries to remove it. This will tear it's skin/mouth up and cause terrible wounds.

u/for-the-yell-i-get · 1 pointr/aww

I'd highly recommend getting a glow-in-the-dark or reflective collar. Less tripping over them, more peace of mind should they ever get out at night. We use this one for our black cat.

u/Henchman_2_4 · -4 pointsr/funny

Poor baby chipmunk. Cats should stay inside. I also saw this thing you can put on your cats collar so it is more difficult for them to kill birds. Who knows if it works. Whenever I say this I get downvoted into oblivion because people love their cats. Don’t care. Cats don’t kill rats and for mice it’s not like they even make a dent. Letting them just kill every night is just sorta weird to me.
