This is something very near and dear to my heart as both I and my oldest nephew have food allergies. There are tons of fun, non-food items you can hand out to trick or treaters that they will love. My favorite to hand out has been play-do. Other good ones are those Mardi Gras necklaces, stickers, or stamp rings. Please consider at least adding a few different non-food items to your normal candy giving.

...Btw, if you are looking for cool teal pumpkins and don't want to paint one yourself, Amazon has a lot of neat ones to put out. I'm told Target sometimes has them as well.

I have this on ours and I really, really hope someone buys it. SO does not like it and says if someone actually spends that much on it, it's going in my office. Fine by me haha.

Get a sturdy candle lantern and then it should be (relatively) safe to let a candle burn down unattended.

Congrats!! :D :D

You should totally have these in some of the centerpieces! This is also super pretty. And this is probably too pricey for centerpieces, but it would be really neat if you could work gargoyles into them!

u/UvulaJones · 3 pointsr/weddingplanning

We are using these lanterns as centerpieces. We are putting them on mirrors, and there will be 5-6 white votives in clear glass votive cups surrounding them. We may still have our florist provide a few bunches of baby's breath for the venue to put sprigs along the bottom of the stand, but are still undecided about that.

Our colors are midnight blue/sapphire blue with silver and white accents, and the "theme" (loose as it is) is starry night.

I have two cats both of whom are kneaders and both of whom occasionally like to "help" me meditate. I wear a blanket over my legs and usually have a thick bathrobe on (since I meditate right after I shower) and that helps with any kneading.

As for candle safety, I use a catholic votive candle which comes in a glass jar and keep it in a small box shrine with doors. If you are using a more open flame so you can see it to meditate on you might consider getting a long box that you can stand up and put the candle in or even a tall clear glass candle holder or even an oil lantern with a wick.

This option from Amazon is quite similar but pricey - might be way too big, I can't tell the dimension of yours from your photos.

Another option from Bridal Shop Store

A few diff styles that might help get you thinking:

-party vibes
I thought this was cool- I know it is pricy but I'm sure there is more like this.

-spiritual vibes

-contemplative vibes

-festive vibes

-As for the kettle bells, have no recommendations, but they are pretty standard, don't think quality or brand makes a huge difference

Whenever I do lanterns, I use a dremel to cut the bottom completely open (cut a big circle out, smooth out your rough metal edges after). This is also doable by drilling a starter hole and then using tin snips.

This big open area becomes my battery storage and also a spot for a wireless dimmer if you're doing that. Next, I cut a piece of 1/4" luuan/skinply into a circle that fits into the base, paint it out to match the lantern, and apply velcro to it and the edge of my remaining lip in the base. Voila! Removable base!

Next, I remove the wick and little holder thing. This can usually be pried off. If you can only get the wick out and removed enough other gunk to get into your opened reservoir, you can also just tinsnip open the wick holder to make it wider. Now you can insert either a 12v lamp base, a battery operated candle, etc. Because you have access inside, you can also decide to install a switch on the lantern base to allow your actor to turn it on/off.

OR...you can make your life really easy and convince your team to just buy an LED lantern. You'll find them lots of places now because of halloween, but you can always find them on Amazon, etc. https://www.amazon.com/Seasons-Rustic-Fashioned-Light-Lantern/dp/B00BLPSGG8/

I use a 6 foot tall menorah I made out of plywood a few years ago. (For some reason the pictures aren't on imgur anymore but you can get a rough idea from the thumbnail on reddit). I use candle lanterns to hold the candles. Also since I use it outside they provide wind protection. Wood obviously does burn. I've never seen anything available commercially they will make it non flammable. As other have said if you want to make the frame out of wood just make sure the candles are secured with a non-flammable material. You could also consider using oil in a glass container with a wick holder, or short candles like neronim in a votive glass holder. Both of those should keep the flame contained and away from your wood. If you go with standard wax candles, the thing to remember is that the candle will burn down and could ignore whatever is below it, and it could also fall sideways, so make sure you're covered in either direction.

Clay will retain it's shape if you fire it, but it's surprisingly bad for holding candles. Something about the rigidity and the fact that candles seem to change sizes every few years makes it a bad fit. If you can make it work, great, but I've just had bad luck with it.

I made this so I could visualize it myself. Simple and minimalist, so it seems fairly low maintenance. I like a black painted wood bench (add some pillows for your style), a black metal end table, and simple decor like potted plants and oversized lanterns. I think the curtain helps close in the area and make it look more cozy. I know this style isn't for everyone and may not exactly match your house exterior, but let me know if you like it :)

This is my boring old kitchen table, our kitchen pretty much has nothing in it. Wondering where the kitchen chairs are? We have none :( We have to save up and buy some. In the mean time I have a table runner and candle set on my house needs/wants wishlist I would Love to have for my kitchen table. The table runner is the first thing I would like to get. Are we allowed to link wishlist items again?

You should buy us both this lantern!! It's on both of our wishlists, and it would make a great addition to my sunroom, and yours! :)

This knock-off product on Amazon looks almost identical, but gets crappy reviews. Could be one of them?

Nice! Here is the link. On mobile, so my apologies if I fuck it up.

It is a gorgeous lamp :)
