His expectations may have been too high. Also some more info on his page might help. Is it fretted or are the frets just painted on? The action looks high which makes me wonder if it's for slide only. Does it have a pick up? i.e. can it be plugged into an amp. Competition can be rough, but he seems to be doing fine. Has he tried selling them at a local street fair? Can he play them? That can help sell them. Good luck! He seems to already getting joy from building them. He should keep it going. They would make awesome gifts too.

These (Firefly/Grote) can be a bit hit or miss, but the return policy is solid, and the price is insane. They show up on Amazon every now and again. If I were right handed I'd buy one in a heartbeat. https://www.amazon.com/Electric-Guitar-Semi-Hollow-Chrome-Hardware/dp/B07WL7HPMW/ref=sr_1_2

I've got a Casino that looks more like this
Beautiful guitar, I just need to find the right set of strings for it.

I recommend the Ibanez Artcore . The cheapest models are $300 brand new and they’re excellent. They’re also semi-hollow body so they sound better than a regular electric if you play it acoustically.

Since electric guitar requires a few things more than just a guitar, starter packs go a long way to give you the basic setup to have everything yoy need.

I started with a Squire by Fender starter pack and could not have been happier. Look for a Squire Affinity Strat starter pack, since the guitar is built in Indonesia and quality control is very good and you can find several pickup setups to choose.

The starter packs usually comes with:

  • the guitar
  • a 15 watt Fender Frontman amp (bigger than most other starter packs offer)
  • padded gigbag
  • guitar strap
  • 3 medium-sized picks
  • chromatic tuner
  • tremolo pedal
  • ziplock bag with tools and spare parts
  • a Fender DVD with 30 beginners lessons

Anyway, it's all you could possibly need. I've seen Epiphone also has a starter pack with a sweet Les Paul Apettite for Desrruction guitar, a replica from Guns and Roses's Slash's guitar.

You can always buy just the guitar and all those other things by your own, but you'll need them from day one and they can be pretty expensive if bought separately.

    My exact Squire guitar...

Epiphone Slash's AFD guitar starter pack...

Give it some thought. I've got several guitars now but still love my Squire Strat and use it often. Most of the other things, I still use daily.

Oh! And don't buy knock-offs of famous guitars, they usually suck balls. Squire and Epihone are built by Fender and Gibson respectively, so they build original licenced replicas, which is so much better.

This is what I use. Same thing. Yours is $100 cheaper because it doesn't have Slash on it, but it's pretty much the same guitar.

It didn't. The seller didn't like that I didn't have a bikini badge on my headstock.

But I really liked the idea of trading my Epi, so now I have my Alleykat for sale on Craigslist. Hopefully I'll sell it and be able to buy a silver sparkle Pro Jet with a Bigsby or maybe the ES-339 Pro.

Haven't played in a while but looking to get back into things. Was wondering which of these three you all would recommend:

Option 1 - Ibanez AS53

Option 2 - Epiphone Les Paul 100

Option 3 - Ibanez AG75

Any major differences between the two Ibanez models other than color and extra knobs? Will the semi-hollow body of the Ibanez models impact the sound in a major way? Any thoughts much appreciated :)

Maybe this ? Id go second hand personally if i were you.

Also remember that your sound is 50% guitar and 50% amp so id look into a good lower priced amp like a blackstar ht1/5.

I'm in the market for a semi hollow double cutaway, i'm not ready to fork out 2 grand for the Gibson e335 but i haven't heard good things about epiphone.

Is this the kind of guitar you had? any advice for a semi hollow?

I have a cherry red Washburn Oscar Scmidt "Delta Blues" ES-335 clone that continues to amaze me. I bought it thinking wtf, fun knockaround for $129 ...NEW, so if it plays at all whatever.

Just took it out tonight to try out with a new amp, this thing still totally rocks. Great f'in tone, great neck (tho a little narrow for my taste), grover tuners, solid as a rock after a few years. Just searched for a pick to link to, found this listing for almost double, I'd say still worth it. A weird little gem of a guitar.
