These say they're made in Mexico, so it's inaccurate to say a) all Frye boots are made in China now, or b) there's a conspiracy to only sell China-made Fryes on Amazon.

Get a grip, people.

u/tomlizzo · 11 pointsr/femalefashionadvice

So... wouldn't it be more accurate to say that different styles and colors are made in different countries, than to suggest Frye is making special Chinese versions of its styles just to sell on Amazon?

Clearly there are styles of Fryes that are not made in China that can be purchased on Amazon, so if there is some kind of conspiracy it seems half-assed at best.

Hunter boots. Everyone I talked to said, "Oh, they're so cute. . .but they leak sometimes. They're so great, though!" and I just thought it was ridiculous to buy rain boots that leak.

I bought these Kamik Jennifer boots instead and they're terrific. Low profile, solidly constructed, and super comfortable. I've walked miles in them at a time!

Found them!

I would say the reviews are accurate, from the ones I read. They run a little big, and scuff easily, but they're honestly my favorite boots atm

Okay so first off, be aware that really the only way to wear rain boots in winter in nothern states is with wool socks and even so they can tend to be pretty cold. If you're looking for true winter boots I'd recommend Sorrel.

However, just strictly speaking about Hunter boots. Personally I think they're very stiff and VERY heavy as far as rubber boots go. Also, overpriced. After a lot of evaluation I decided to go with the Kamik Jennifer instead which also comes in a short size the Kamik Jenny. They look very similar to the Hunter boots with the exception that they have a slightly narrower shaft, weigh less than half the Hunters do, have a REALLY cushy insole that's amazing and are made out of a slightly softer rubber. I should have done a side-by-side comparison before I mailed the Hunters and the Jenny boots back, but I preferred the two Kamik styles over the two Hunter styles on the basis of comfort, asthetic, weight, fit and price. Oh, did i mention? They're about a third of the price of Hunters. I haven't had the Kamiks too long, but they're very highly rated and almost all the reviews say they last for years. I haven't seen any reports of Kamiks cracking while I've seen lots of reports of Hunters cracking recently.

So there's my two cents. :)

Hello FFA, I need help finding boots for my girlfriend. She specifically wants black leather boots with little to no heel, no buckles or straps but for people with skinny legs. Every boot I come across has a wide opening like these. Can you help me find boots like these for skinny legs?

Edit: she's looking for knee high boots under the knee.
Edit 2: thanks for the replies everyone. I think we found a pair that she likes!

I have larger calves (about 16 inches around) and bought these two years ago and I can actually zip them up while wearing thick socks and jeans! There’s a little buckle on the side to give you extra room too but theyre wide enough that I don’t need to unbuckle it. Since I’ve gotten them I’ve worn them regularly from fall to end of spring for two years and they still look good they’ve just softened up a little.

(Edit to add more info)

They don't feel any different from my Kamiks, except they're 3x more expensive and have those little white tags on the front.

Not really bottoms, but I've found a pair of knee-high boots always seems to even out my body and make me look longer and slimmer no matter what kind of pants I'm wearing under them- though I tend to favor skinny jeans since they fit under them more comfortably. I have a pair of loose-fit black skinny jeans from Macys and forest green Gap Corduroy skinny pants.

To go over them, I have a pair of Hush Puppies Alternative boots from Macys (most comfy shoes in the world- period), and these hot Miz Mooz boots. The Miz Mooz boots were on sale for 40% off when I got them on Amazon, and I get so many compliments on them!

I'm short (5'2"), but with this combination, I never feel too pear-y or stubby.

Oops. Had the price a bit off, but still $40 ain’t bad.

The Steve Madden Intyce is pretty popular but has a slight wedge. Leather is decent quality (aka doesn't look too cheap). I've heard some say they don't last long, and others who have had them for years.

There's also the Nine West Watermelon and the
Frye Jillian but that's a little out of your range.

So in the winter, I'd recommend Timberlands, but for Spring, I'd just go with anything waterproof. I have these (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B075QPC2R3/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_btrxCbARPHF5Q) and really like them if I don't have to wear a suit. Hope this helps!

What's your budget?

Rieker Women's Sierra Long Boots 37 M EU/6.5 B(M) US Olive https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0744PQYQS/

These have some hardware going on, but it doesn't take over the boot

These are from a company I've never heard of, but they're pretty close

Zappos has these, but they're not crazy tall

'Slouch boot' and 'olive boot' on eBay both returned some possibilities, but you gotta crawl through 100s of listings to find them

u/crabcake23 · 2 pointsr/HelpMeFind

Yeah victorian/lace up/riding boots, combination of those things! Yeah I agree, I'm a size 9 too and it's always harder to find bigger sizes for some reason!

These are some other ones but much longer

Amazon. They have a ton of SW dupes. Here’s a midrange Calvin Klein pair or there are a ton of other cheap brands.

Personally the three classics for me:

Leather or suede booties with some kind of cut-out to help elongate the leg

Waterproof boots

Riding boots, especially brown ones

I'm not a fan personally of over the knee boots, and I prefer flat boots unless it's a block heel on an ankle boot, like this.

[Miz Mooz] (http://www.amazon.com/Miz-Mooz-Womens-Bloom-Knee-High/dp/B003EP3RBC/ref=pd_sbs_shoe_3) These may not be quite what you are looking for but I bought a pair in black last year and wear them all the time. My calf measures 13" and they fit snugly. I managed to get them on sale at $140, making them the priciest pair of shoes I own, but considering how often I wear them I am happy with my splurge and think I will be for a few more years. Happy hunting!

u/starringlondonashobo · 2 pointsr/findfashion

The boots are Steve Madden

Hi FFA!
I am looking for cognac tall leather boots. I have been looking and found these Coach boots that I love but they don't have my size and I was devastated! I prefer a stiffer looking boot and almond toe. Budget around $100-$200.

Every year back east, I would buy Timberland winter/riding boots. Normally I am not a fan of that brand, but when it comes to winter boots, they know what they're doing. They have some cute fur-lined ones. They are always a bit on the pricey side, but I haven't found any that I like as much as my Timberland ones. I also have some similar to these ones.

Not quite as BIFL as Red Wing (my roommate's Clara boots are still kicking ass after many years of rough barn use), but I've had great success with Clark's boots. I've had this pair for about 6 years now, and they still look halfway decent despite the fact that they've survived four Chicago winters and a four month stint of nearly daily wear in a Middle Eastern winter (think constant dust) as well. New styles retail for around $200 but as you can see older styles are still available online for cheap.

u/jsprusch · 1 pointr/PlusSize

these are my og everyday boots. it looks like amazon only has up to size 8.5 right now. i'm off to try and find another pair of 9.5's because i'm that obsessed with them. no slouching at all and clarks are great for my feet. https://www.amazon.com/Clarks-Womens-Cheyn-Fashion-Leather/dp/B079TNTWMH/ref=sr_1_4?crid=2SHW0MZGTHE66&keywords=clarks+women%27s+cheyn+meryl+ws+fashion+boot&qid=1569004179&s=apparel&sprefix=clarks+meryl+%2Cfashion%2C137&sr=1-4

My Sam Edelman Penny boots ALWAYS get compliments! Very classic riding boot, so if that's not what you're looking for obviously I'm no help. But IMO they look more expensive than they are, and are pretty good quality considering they're actual leather.

Miz Mooz has some similar boots: here and here
