There are lots of options on amazon; just type in “slim hamper for laundry.” I have a round version of the one I linked; the only problem with it is that my cats seem fascinated with it and spend hours knocking it over then playing in it.

I need this laundry bin. If you could see my bedroom, you'd understand why. Also, I need someone to come over and do laundry.

Edit: There are people here who need things more than I do. Pick them, not me.

On a practical level, get prepared to make clean up as streamlined as possible. Once we worked this out, it made life sooooo much less stressful!

For example, we have a laundry hamper in a cupboard and the diaper supplies on top of the cupboard, all next to the main living area changing space. Diaper supplies included 2-3 layers of waterproof pads on top of the changing pad to make cleaning up leaks simple in the middle of a diaper change.

So we could change the diaper, throw the dirty pad (and clothes if necessary) in the hamper, put on clean clothes and disinfect everything form the one station**. And it was FAST! (example laundry hamper: https://www.amazon.com/HOMCOM-Country-Standing-Bathroom-Cabinet/dp/B072MFPG58/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1537459524&sr=8-2&keywords=laundry+hamper+cupboard)

We also had 20-30 spit up cloths (cloth diaper with nice fabric sewn on one side) in two stacks - one by the main area for feeding on the main living space, one by the main area for feeding in the baby's room. Grab two for every feeding, throw in the laundry hamper when done. (laundry hamper for kids room: https://www.amazon.com/Space-Saving-Hanging-Laundry-Hamper/dp/B01N48A8S5/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1537459828&sr=8-5&keywords=over+the+door+laundry)

These two solutions made it much easier to handle the messes without freaking out.

This is the list of stuff we kept handy at all times for diaper changing:

  • Diapers
  • Wipes
  • Butt cream
  • Change of clothes
  • Clean pads for changing station
  • Disinfecting wipes or hand sanitizer for parents
  • Laundry hamper
  • Toy for kiddo

Having those things set up before we brough baby home would have really reduced the frustrations over blowouts, but we didn't know any better until we learned by trial and error......

  1. I'd say this hamper because looking at it now, the size would be embarrassingly inadequate for the massive amounts of laundry we go through.

  2. Well, last week all of the leadership team got together and made soups and salads so that the front line staff could have a nice meal for Thanksgiving. We will do a similar thing next Friday with pizzas and desserts. It helps with morale, and it makes me feel good to know that someone who might not be able to afford a hot lunch or dinner can have some good home cooked food.

My kids' rooms look like a bomb went off in them because they have laundry everywhere. If we had these, there would be no bomb look. Or something.

It's early here, too. :P

I got this hamper from amazon.. A bit pricey ($75) but I plan on it lasting a good while, and looks nice in the bathroom. I like that it has a lid as well.

I'll sort dirty clothes into different laundry baskets. Usually all machine-washable stuff goes in a large basket like this, and then I do whites, colors, and pants in separate loads when the basket is full (or overflowing...). Handwash stuff and workout clothes each go in bins this size, which again get washed when they're full. The nice thing about those rectangular ones is they're space-efficient; you can cram a bunch into a small space, or if you have shelves high enough, put several on shelves.

Solution for the dry cleaning clothing on the floor: hanging laundry bag that you can also use to transport the laundry to the cleaner.

I would love to do a fairy costume like this Or maybe a water themed one. But something very natural and realistic looking.

If for some reason I win, this would be fantastic.

I recommend making sure you have several items:

  • Hamper (foldable or collapsible is best for college students.)
  • Laundry bag (Just in case you don't want to carry your hamper to your laundry facility, or your hamper isn't carry friendly.)
  • Desk lamp (any kind should be fine, so that way if your room mate is sleeping you don't have to have the entire room lit up)
  • Power strips (you never know when you're going to need to plug something in, and you might run out of wall plugs)
  • Change jar (spare change is always useful especially when ordering food, so you can give exact change. Don't forget to tip! You can make one of these yourself for basically free minus the cost of a bottle)
  • Desk organizer (To keep your class syllabi in, as well as any returned papers. It's very easy to lose all of that stuff, and you never know if you might need it again during the semester.)
  • Flip flops/shower shoes (keep them cheap because they're only for the bathroom, chances are that bathroom will be shared by you and several others, and most likely won't be the cleanest place)
  • Healthy (ish) snack foods (whatever foods appeal to you really, but that's a start for some ideas, trust me healthy food is good, you don't want that freshman 15 to catch up to you too quick now!)
  • Alarm clock (or you can use your phone which is what I ended up doing last year, but make sure it doesn't die!)
  • Headphones (so you don't annoy your roommate with your choice of tv/music/movies/etc.) Here's three more headphones for variety, all of which are great for the price range. Klipsch, Vsonic, Sony(these Sony MDR-V6 go on sale every so often, they were literally just on sale for $54 and are absolutely fantastic for the price range)

That's basically everything I either wish I had brought, or found very useful. Oh yeah, don't forget your cell phone, cell phone charger, laptop/desktop and appropriate cables. Also don't forget to do your laundry somewhat regularly, and that includes your sheets!

Would you like a falafel with that?

Batman Suit!

You NEED this AMAZING bomber jacket. It's not an option. Fall and Winter are coming up and you need to be able to look great when the temperatures start falling. You can bundle up and be warm this winter (which is predicted to be an early cold one!) and have the fashion sense of Tim Gunn.

I need this hamper to save my sanity. I'm not even kidding. Our washer broke and my husband has decided that laundry only needs to be bi monthly. I can't go to the laundromat since we only have one car now. This means that until he decides to go to the laundromat, there are clothing everywhere since our hamper is full. This means my poor panties are eaten and destroyed by an over active puppy.

In order to save the puppy from discipline and my good panties from destruction and my husband's life: I need this hamper.

1. I know I could just use reparo, but I'd rather my wine glasses not break in the first place. Plus, there's no putting wine back in a broken glass, and we can't have that! If I drop it, I'll just use wingardium leviosa, and the wine will be saved!

2. Whenever I put my dog on the back of my broomstick, he's always trying to chew off the handle. Maybe this item will fool him.

3. I'm not sure I can afford my own, but I have three friends who might let me borrow theirs. I might have to dust them off a bit.

4. This would help me understand the magic of the mind, and the mind magic behind the magic!

5. I have a feeling my school trunk would just be full of dirty clothes.

6. Cape! I'd really like to find a cape like this guy has. Practical AND fashionable. I think he really epitomizes those two qualities.

Ah, I see what you mean now. In that case, your only options really are to dry them out somehow when you get home or, what I'd do, just spray them down with febreeze a little bit every so often. You could also get a close-topped hamper like this which would keep out most of the smell.

So I'm moving from a smaller basement apartment to a larger three bedroom above ground apartment that is only $50 more a month. My bedroom is slightly smaller but it has windows on two sides, so I think it will be nice to decorate.

Right now it is furnished and decorated pretty femininely (this is the first series of photos). I think I've kind of got a plan formulated here but I'm super open to suggestions. My landlord is happy to remove stuff from the room, so I think I'm going to strip the room of the drapes and bedding (I included a photo of the bedding I have now) since I feel as though there are too many patterns. The wicker stuff in there now will go too, as will the mirrored side table, leaving just the bed, the rug, and the dresser.

Turning the bed to face the door will open up the left wall for me to put a desk with my PC. I'm going with grey to kind of match my bed (which would be the room's focal entering it), and it's inexpensive which is good for my low budget. This laundry hamper can go behind the entry door, and the dresser can get a grey mat, changing the photo out for a photo from the Olympics. I'll get a map of Seattle and two hiking images, switching the current photo above my bed with one of the mountain ones and adding the map and another mountain to the right of it.

____

The other room is one of two common spaces. I'm really not sure what to do here, but I know for a fact that the chaotic warm colors mixed with the rug and the asymmetrical wall decorations are not working for me at all. The other common area is livable for now, taken up by a large L couch and a TV. I'm thinking making this area more of a study, but I'll need to consult my roomates.

If this is your room: buy a shoe rack and a hamper. When you start to clean, make your bed first then move on to everything else. Before bringing in a new style, make sure your room is organized.

I don't think you need to shave, your beard grows in nicely. If it was patchy I would suggest shaving. I agree with others about sizing. Take your measurements and write them down. Read through the sidebar of building a basic wardrobe and understanding color. I like the color of your shirt and pants, so perhaps start looking for a new style in those kinds of colors.

Lastly, save this as your before picture. Post updates when you find an outfit you like.
