i switched to maternity pants exclusively maybe around 20 weeks? I still wear a combination of maternity and loose fitting non-maternity tops/dresses at 36 weeks. A nursing/maternity tank or two can lengthen the life of a lot of your regular clothes. I bought maternity underwear around 30 weeks, but I don't actually find them that useful other than the fact that I don't care about them and will use them after baby comes as underwear I don't mind destroying/throwing away if they get blood on them. The biggest thing was maternity bras which REALLY improved my comfort level, and I didn't realize it was the band that needed to be bigger, not the cup until around 26 weeks, but I wish it had been sooner. They sell band extenders for really cheap so you can just check and see if that's what you need before spending a ton. Then I got nursing bras (no underwire) at my shower (around 34 weeks) and they are SOOOO comfortable. I also wish I would have gotten these sooner, and I wear them pretty much exclusively. Finally, I got some nursing pjs with an adjustable waistband which I've worn 90% of the time I'm at my house since I got them around 32 weeks.

My mom bought my husband the book "we're pregnant", which is divided into chapters based on how many weeks pregnant you are. Every week since then, he's read the chapter out loud to me, and it's been a really nice conversation starter and way for him to feel informed without feeling like I'm pushing info on him. The chapters are also short enough that he doesn't dread doing it (3-4 pages max). The author also specifically suggests things for dad to do like research baby monitors, make sure mom is getting iron, beat her to the chores so she can rest, etc. Other than that, he's gone to two classes with me (breastfeeding and Lamaze/hospital tour), goes to all doctors appts including pediatrician interview, and I've pretty much depended on him to "put things together" like the crib, dresser, baby monitor, stroller, carseat, etc. Then he teaches me how to use it. I think that gives him a sense of ownership with something.

My family is close and I'm lucky to have two girlfriends who got pregnant at the same time, so I don't have great advice on tribe building. Sorry!

Here’s what I’m bringing this time around:

Bathroom essentials:(I like to get dressed and ready so I’ll pack the basic things I’d need to fix my hair and makeup)

🔘Basic makeup
🔘Hairbrush and hair care tools
🔘Toothbrush/paste
🔘Deodorant
🔘Travel lotion
🔘Chapstick (I didn’t think I’d need this the first time but I brought it and idk if it’s labor or the rooms but my lips were sooo dry so I used it frequently)
🔘hair ties

My clothes:

🔘comfy nursing bra
🔘big comfortable undies (they’ll give you these mesh undies while there that are actually super amazing and comfortable but these are just in case I want them)
🔘black comfy robe (I have this to wear over my hospital gown before labor. The back of the gown opens so I kept this on to cover my naked backside when I needed to get up and walk around)
🔘loose comfy sleep pants
🔘favorite maternity leggings
🔘comfy shirts that are easy to nurse with (I am bring a couple loose shirts and a couple nursing shirts I’ve bought)
🔘socks

Baby Clothes:(I plan on keeping baby in footie sleepers with onesies underneath while there)

🔘onesies
🔘footie sleepers
🔘baby socks (few pairs)/hat
🔘swaddle wrap (they gave us one there but I prefer the swaddle me ones best so I’m bringing one)
🔘baby blanket
🔘boppy pillow (not a necessity but being a ftm last time and not knowing how to breast feed this made things easier for me personally. You can use regular pillows too)

Miscellaneous:
🔘Phone Charger
🔘kindle
🔘snacks (I was starving last time, especially during night feedings so these saved me)
🔘pillow from home with non white pillow case

This seems like a lot now that I have it all typed but I’m planning it to all fit in one medium rolling duffle I have plus carrying my boppy pillow/pillow.

If anyone else has things I’m forgetting, let me know so I can add them!

Edit: I didn’t add any pads or supply type things because our hospital has this so covered we didn’t even touch ours last time so I guess that’s up to your hospital)
