His name is Peter Brendt. Buckle your seatbelts because I cannot stand this guy. He is the worst. He is 100% not a criminal profiler, and has exactly zero background in psychology or any other relevant field. He was a technician in the Navy and now he writes awful crime novels and pads the reviews on Amazon. Here is his bio. You can tell it was written by him because it sucks. He can’t even construct a sentence. Emphasis is mine to highlight his typical run-on nonsense sentence structure so you can have a good laugh at his Amazon review (at the bottom of this comment).

> Born in 1964, he joined the German Navy after Abitur (which is equivalent to high school graduation) training as a navigator and later as weapon diver. Terms of service were predominantly spent in NATO commands. Following his resignation from the Navy, he studied business and computer sciences. Various software projects in the field of medical technologies followed after some years by promotion into management positions in international projects.

> Since 2005, Brendt earns his living as full time author, he is married (obviously) and lives in the U.S. with his wife, writer Diane Brendt. Peter as of yet wrote in German and is published in Germany and Japan. His first manuscript completely in English, INSIDE MIND is just finished and will be available in summer of 2011 from Aaronis Collection via Amazon.

I don’t think they let him talk about his real theory in The Killing Season because it is so stupid and also borderline racist. He insists that LISK is black. I’m not saying that it’s stupid/racist because it’s politically incorrect (I couldn’t care less). Hell, LISK could be black, who knows. I’m saying it’s stupid because his reasoning is batshit retarded.

> The victimology consists of four petite to average Caucasian women without too many other visual similarities. He went through way too much effort to convince everybody, he is a “drunk white dude”.

He completely disregards the statements of the only people to hear the killer talk, Amanda and Sara. Both said he sounded like a white guy, but Peter Brendt isn’t fooled. He is adamant that the killer is a black man who hates white people.

It gets worse though. He continues to explain his “black guy” theory with this racist and retarded gem of a generalization:

> ...his play with clichés in the phone calls to Amanda and especially what he left out, points to racist. Which means, he is non-Caucasian and probably, since Hispanic racists hate equally Caucasians and African-Americans and there is no African-American victim, an African-American himself. Aside of that, he used enough Al Sharpton references in the phone calls.

Al Sharpton references?? WTF is he even blabbering about? He didn’t hear the calls...he just knows.

He also believes that the killer stalked his victims and abducted them off the street. That’s right. He doesn’t believe the killer met them online or ever called them notwithstanding all the evidence that he did exactly that.

And in case you were wondering, Peter Brendt is so good at profiling that he has already determined that the killer is left-handed based on subtleties in the positioning of the bodies. Another fact that he could not possibly have access to even if it wasn’t so dumb anyway.

> When you look at the dump site over the dynamic, you see, he followed a circular counter-clockwise pattern. That is an indicator for left-handedness. Aside of that, the bodies were all four slightly out of the perpendicular position to the brush line, all with the legs a bit further away from where he stood, so his left arm was the more controlled one.

So there you have it. The expert “profiler” has spoken. LISK is a left-handed black man. Peter Brendt is the epitome of a websleuther. A fucking blowhard with no credentials or experience that tries to pass himself off as an expert. As you can see, as annoying and as dumb as he was in The Killing Season, that was the tip of the iceberg. They actually watered down his bullshit for the documentary because they couldn’t let him go full retard.

Criminal profiler...not a chance

Compete jackass...you bet

If you’d like to waste more of your time reading the ramblings of a buffoon, here is the interview I’ve been pulling quotes from where he talks about his “profile”.

And here is one of the Amazon reviews of his book. It’s obvious that he wrote the review because, like I said before, he sucks at writing. Notice the terrible run-on sentences and constantly incorrect syntax.

> Thrilling
This was intense, maybe because the unusual way to tell the story. Inside Mind, that is not the usual serial killer as cruel as possible to shock the reader wherever possible, but to me, it was a ride deep through the mind of killers in general. An unusual serial killer novel and who expects the regular splatter, will be wrong with this book, but who really wants to see a dark place can't get a better invitation. Some well earned stars.

Sound a little familiar? Let’s profile the writer of this review...it’s Peter Brendt. This is one of 4 reviews. They are all 5 stars and they are all written exactly the same. As much as it pains me to link to his book on Amazon, here it is for anyone that wants a chuckle.

In case you couldn’t tell. I find this asshole infuriating. I’m so glad I came across this post, so I’m commenting even though I’m a little late to the party.

TLDR;
Peter Brendt is not qualified to profile criminals in any capacity. He is as confident as he is inept which is why he was on the doc. They needed a blowhard to eat up time. Just like you pointed out with “bodies in the backyard” statement, and the multitude of examples I have given in this comment, he consistently misrepresents facts and purports to have insider knowledge. He does not.

I think I know what Zellner is referring to with the quote , "The Killer (devil) is in the details". The fact it's in quotes is what gave it away. It's a book title. "The Devil is in the Details" , by Ariana Overton. Go to amazon and read the back cover. http://www.amazon.ca/The-Devil-Details-Ariana-Overton/dp/1876962283#immersive-view_1455657524048 The last line of the overview on the back says , "This team is determined to find the killer , in spite of the local sheriff and the coroner , who view the FBI's intrusion as a challenge " !!

Dead Things by Stephen Blackmoore is pretty good. Not great, but a quick paced Urban Fantasy with a Necromancer in the lead role.

That was actually a writing prompt over in /r/writingprompts and the writer eventually wrote a whole book. It's a pretty good read.

The Fourth Horseman is a mature novel set in a fictional near future where bionics and genetic manipulation have become commonplace. The novel examines some of the societal and human impact of these advances through the lens of an investigation by a struggling police force.

List price is usually $4 but it's under kindle countdown deal until the 24th, $0.99 for the initial few days (~21st).

My novel Wail (published under the name Kenzie McLaughlin) is free for the next three days on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B073TJ776K

The book is a bit difficult to categorise -- Clotilde really isn't kick-ass enough for it to be urban fantasy and it's definitely not a romance. It does have a happy ending though! Setting is modern London. I've been calling it 'paranormal suspense' but the reviewers are tending towards 'psychological thriller with fantasy elements'.

My best review: "I cried so much my family took my Kindle from me."

Blurb:

This is a story of friendship and death. Not necessarily in that order.

Clotilde never asked to become a wailing woman, forever twenty and compelled to wash the bloody clothes of the dying. Being undead gives her the courage to fulfil her dream of escaping rural Scotland to see London but now she's out of money and living rough on the banks of the Thames.

Rich American playboy Scott came to London to explore the heady world of Oscar Wilde's Dorian Gray but it all feels a bit hollow after his boyfriend leaves him. The distraction of playing white knight for the homeless young woman he finds wailing at Finsbury Park Station gives him a focus. He's convinced he can help Clotilde make a life for herself in London, if she'll just try a little therapy.

Their fragile friendship is challenged when a serial killer's victims cause Clotilde to run sobbing for the river every time they pass through Finsbury Park. The killer believes that the wrath of the river spirits will cleanse London if he can offer enough blood sacrifices to draw them nearer. His cunning has kept the police from linking the murders so far. But no killer could foresee an American playboy and a Scottish bean nighe tracing his victims to Finsbury Park Station.

I feel like I should say something pleading here. I hope you like it?
