Well it's a projector... You are supposed to replace the bulb after so many hours because they get dim.

Yup, cheap bulbs sucks, they throw less light than the original and they last way less.

For example, there is a company called Lutema that kinda sells 3 tier of lamps for projector and they show a graph in which they say how much performance you should expect of theirs lamps.

They sell them on amazon, but still, they could be DOA or only work for a few hours before failing.

Seeing that the projector is ancient, I would forget about it and buy a new one with at least HDMI and 720p like an epson 740HD. Epson lamps are pretty cheap, the original one for the 740HD is like 70 bucks.
