The corset looks really good! Is this totally finished? I have some construction advice if you'd like, if not ignore it.

It looks like you have some really noticeable puckering on the side seam on the satin skirt, it might be the tension on your machine or the type of thread you used. If the dress is 2 separate pieces then it should be easy to pick that seam out and redo it. Also, the skirt has too much fullness at the waist/hips where it meets the bottom of the corset. It's gathering and adding a lot of fullness. It would be more flattering take in the skirt at the top to make it more of an "A" shape, and then wear a slip underneath with some tulle at the bottom to give it some fullness at the bottom. This would show off the nice detail you added to the hemline. This slip is kind of what I'm talking about. You could easily make one for pretty cheap with more or less fullness to your taste.

I think you've done a great job and you'll feel really beautiful and proud on your wedding day knowing you've made a one of a kind dress! Making a few changes will make your dress will make it look really professional. Whatever you decide, good job! That's a TON of work and it looks great!

I love [this slip] (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00IK5BQSC/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&th=1&psc=1) for a little extra coverage, if it isn't too long to go under the dress. You can wear it two ways, for a straight or v-neck layer. I love the look of the bralettes others posted, but as a fellow large busted lady, I have sadly never found one of those that works for me! I prefer this slip rather than a cami under a dress because it lays well and I don't have to tug it into place as much.

I have two of these. I’m 5’6 and wear mid thigh length dresses.

Amazon! I should clarify, they're not actually silk, though you can probably find that too. They're the same material as a typical slip, which is nylon. I got these and these. The 2nd ones are a tiny bit longer and kind of look like a skirt (A-line cut I guess?). There's nothing remotely sexy about them but they do the job :)

u/bacon-is-sexy · 36 pointsr/TheGirlSurvivalGuide

No worries! Slips are made of a slicker material and they are more fitted to the body (but not tight in most cases). There isn’t extra material to get “eaten,” so it also doesn’t allow other things in. It also smooths out the lines of one’s figure and helps the dresses sit “right”. Also hides panty line. I actually wear lace thongs almost exclusively, so I don’t have visible panty line (or VPL) issues, but some prefer other types of panties.

I wear satin shorts underneath. The dress skims over them smoothly but they're loose so they don't make me hotter like spandex does. Something like these: Americana Satin Bloomer Short Long Slip Lace Edge https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B07BYDNJD9/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_RYZwDbPPJQH8V

I bought this sweet hoops skirt to wear under my wedding dress. I've been wearing it around my house pretending to be Scarlett O'Hara.

You will want some version of a crinoline hoop slip.

Search this on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/MISSVEIL-Crinoline-Petticoat-Underskirt-Wedding/dp/B07MN9XFRK/ref=sr_1_3_sspa?keywords=hoop+slip&qid=1566493123&s=gateway&sr=8-3-spons&psc=1&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUExWlFRVjdDRzI1UVVIJmVuY3J5cHRlZElkPUEwODMwNTE3MUhOQVZEV0pNMUc2RSZlbmNyeXB0ZWRBZElkPUEwNTQwMzMwMVFRUU5GSkxLUlVMTiZ3aWRnZXROYW1lPXNwX2F0ZiZhY3Rpb249Y2xpY2tSZWRpcmVjdCZkb05vdExvZ0NsaWNrPXRydWU=

Sorry for the long link. If you get a slip with the horsehair hoop or hoops closer to the bottom you will get a look similar to the picture you have. If you get hoops closer to your waist, it will poof out from up there. Hope that helps

I bought this one from amazon and love it. It makes it sooo much easier to walk and it lifts the dress up a bit so I didn't have to get it hemmed. The rings in it are adjustable so if you don't want it quite so full you can lessen it.

Here's how my dress looks with and without it. Sorry I don't have one from the side. Also the one with it from the back looks a little weird where the slip stops but that's because I'm standing up on the pedestal. It looked fine when I was on the floor, I just didn't get a picture.

Pettipants. Not necessarily these but ones in this style. I've tried a few brands over the years. I'm a plus sized woman in an unbearably hot and humid climate. They come in different colors and lengths.

u/aardvarkshoes · 9 pointsr/femalefashionadvice

I looooove pettipants/split slips. They are basically loose, silky shorts, and I always wear them with dresses and skirts. Sometimes I wear them and a slip also, if the skirt is being especially difficult or if it is cold and I want another layer.

u/cardamom-and-rose · 4 pointsr/femalefashionadvice

I love this brand from Amazon. They're so soft and true to size.

u/plaintastic · 3 pointsr/weddingplanning

I got a fishtail mermaid two hoop skirt from Amazon too! Initial thoughts are it makes it SO much easier to walk in.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0096H0LWU/ref=ya_aw_od_pi?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Smelled kinda funky in the package, but it wasn’t too bad. I removed the bottom most hoop and it’s just fine. my dress is very voluminous with the petticoat! Two hoops made it very poofy! One made it not as poofy but still allowed me space to walk.

I’m planning on bringing it to the seamstress to see what it looks at full length.

u/AnnaCvV · 3 pointsr/weddingplanning

Amazon has a ton of options: 1, 2, 3

They also have fuller ones for a-lines and ballgowns. I just searched "dress petticoat".

u/The_Cat_Mom · 3 pointsr/weddingplanning

I hear that so much- the purchasing from a charity organization and just settling a bit for whatever fits and looks nice. I really do love your dress, though, and I think once it's fitted you will feel much better about it. The keyhole back is SO romantic and I love the way it flares out at the bottom! Another bride here had a similar dress and got a crinoline like this that seemed to make a world of difference in the shape.

I think the dress is quite lovely and is actually very flattering on your curves, and I adore the buttons on the back. So beautiful!

Dress and Petticoat

Not amazing quality but they looked really nice so I’m happy I didn’t splurge on something more expensive!

u/EphemeralApricity · 3 pointsr/femalefashionadvice

I have this slip in nude and black for dresses that would be too sheer otherwise.

u/Warwicky · 2 pointsr/weddingplanning

Oooh, that dress is beautiful, congrats on finding the one! I ordered this one from a maker in Kentucky http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000J2PGKI/ref=oh_details_o01_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
My dress is a ballgown so you probably wouldn't need something this large but it is perfect for what I needed and the hoops are adjustable. Also, the top is just a drawstring so it really does fit most sizes. I am a 16 and it fit all the way around me. I was really pleased with the purchase. I would avoid anything from overseas if you could help it. Good Luck!

u/Geobead · 2 pointsr/femalefashionadvice

What about a skirt slip? You'd have to do some trying on to figure out how to cover the lace along the waist though. Maybe stitching the skirt in place so it doesn't ride up/down.

u/LeftMySoulAtHome · 2 pointsr/Wishlist

That is a gorgeous dress, first of all. What if you wore a petticoat like this? You could get a colored one and put a ribbon/fabric sign on it like a trophy would be engraved.

I got this one! Definitely not super fancy, but got the job done. I'm wearing a dress that lays pretty flat without it, and it gives it some poof. You can check my post history for pictures :)

u/chief0717 · 1 pointr/FrugalFemaleFashion

Of course! I have a lot of other non-Amazon vintage/vintage inspired brands I can recommend for a budget, so feel free to message me if you need other recs! The petticoat I have is sold out, but this one is similar. In terms of it showing, I've seen people do both so I think it's all a matter of preference!

Hi! I'm getting married June 8 and will have one available after that - I could get it to you in early July post-honeymoon. I actually got mine off Amazon though for like $30 if that's easier for you: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B00ZPMV1JC/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I have the small/medium size. Would you like to buy from me if this works for your timeline?

(I also tried on this one from Amazon: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B01EH3UV8Q/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o08_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 It has a hoop so is wider at the bottom than the one I ended up keeping).

I have the white one too. It's not a huge amount of poof like a pettycoat but enough that the lower part of the dress doesn't just hang straight doen

u/april731 · 1 pointr/weddingplanning

I'm using the one that my sister wore in her wedding, so I'm not exactly sure. I think it might be the one that DB sells. (I wouldn't have bought the $80 one from them if I was buying now. If you go the Amazon route, just make sure you get one that has free returns like this. It wouldn't hurt to try it on with your dress before buying something more expensive.)

u/SapphireLeprechaun · 1 pointr/weddingplanning

I got this one because I have a mermaid style dress and I absolutely cannot stand having fabric wrap around my legs (also lets more air in around the legs... August wedding). It qualified for prime shipping when I bought mine.
