I used these over my glasses for my entire PCT thru hike last year:

Cheap, didn't break, only kinda scratched by the end. I'm staunchly team glasses in daily life anyway, but I cannot imagine faffing around w contacts as a grubby thruhiker (or as a grubby day or section hiker either).

I got a great pair of Smith Serpico's for less than 100$. If you find something you like go for it. Go to sunglass hut and try some on then go to amazon and see what you can get them for. I generally save at least 20$+ by going online after trying them in store.

This is like 30 seconds of google searching. Like I said before, with a little shopping around you can probably find a nearly identical pair to what these guys are trying to "bring back", and if not, you can custom order your own, which is all that they're going to do with the money. That, and put up a website.

Generally, frames are frames, lenses are lenses, the only thing different is the brand. A pair of Ray Bans is expensive because you're paying for the brand - the logo, and the style.

I used to run with Oakleys but I tend to drop them all the time, and the metal frames of the ones I had (a-wires iirc) would bend, the lenses wouldn't fit properly and would pop out. They were also heavy, and didn't feel great on long runs.

A couple of years ago I switched to Natives, particularly the Hardtop and Hardtop XP, which are lighter, next to indestructible, and come with a hard case and an extra set of lenses (polarized).
