Every Christmas, My sisters are the first ones up and go around the house to wake everyone up. Now I'll go downstairs to make some Coffee and Hot chocolate and put those in those Bunn Dispensers like this https://www.amazon.com/36725-0000-3-8-Liter-Lever-Action-Airpot-Stainless/dp/B001REFF62

Then my sisters will wake up Mom & Dad who take like 30 mins to get up and Call my Brother and Sister in Law to come over and we can open presents. We always give out presents from youngest to oldest one at a Time and watch each person open up presents on average everyone gets some clothes, 2 things on there wish list, and items from the extended family.
Also we do Secret Santa, we use Elfster cause it's easier for everyone cause we're not always there and the Wish lists can be seen by Everyone which makes it easy.

Then once we're done opening presents and giving gifts we usually watch some movies like The Star Wars Saga, Lord of the Rings, The Santa Clause, and Christmas Carol usually the Jim Carrey Version.

Coffee Press - $45.07

I bought a special thermal coffee server for just this reason. Something like this. You preheat the carafe with hot water while your coffee brews. Pour yourself one cup, then the rest in the carafe until someone wants another cup, it'll keep things hot for a couple hours. I have one like that that's more of a server like above, but then I also have one of these which if you preheat first and get the right size so you're filling it all the way to the top, it can keep coffee hot hot for 24 hours NO KIDDING.

I think it's ideal to brew fresh coffee when you want it, but if you can't, then these work great. I haven't found coffee makers with built in thermal carafes that keep things as hot as the ones I've bought.

My condolences.

This one won't break.

I'll second the thermos french press. It's great! Vacuum insulated, and seems to be pretty indestructible, and is all metal where it counts.

I just use a cheap one off amazon, something like this; can't recommend as specific model as I'm from the UK. Keeps coffee hot for a good few hours, easy to serve from as well. Regardless of what you go for, it's worth pre-heating the container before adding the coffee; just let it sit with some near-boiling water in it while you brew up the coffee.

your dad sounds like an amazing guy;
http://i.imgur.com/gIky5Md.jpg
if he's like me, he won't want you messing with his tea
drinking routine, so just buy him something unrelated.

an argument could be made on keeping the tea out;
https://www.amazon.com//dp/B001BQEHM4
if the fridge is opened a lot between meals just to
refill on tea, is may save on electricity if a gallon
was left out on the counter. if your dad filled this
pot 2/3 tea and 1/3 ice, it should stay cold all day.
even if he goes into the freezer for more ice, it's
still better than opening the fridge section as well.

some tricks i use to keep my fridge space free;
i rarely buy freezer/refrigerator items in bulk,
it's not worth the savings, and you'll only end
up consuming more of it before it goes bad.
i also use dry spices instead of condiments,
which only fill up the fridge and leave a mess,
not to mention all the fats, sugars and chemicals.

btw, if your parents use sugar instead of sweetener,
you (and their doctor) really should encourage them
to change - especially if they are obese diabetes prone.
personally, i use 100% pure sucralose (not splenda).

I would recommend this: https://www.amazon.com/BUNN-32130-0000-3-0-Liter-Lever-Action-Stainless/dp/B001BQEHM4.

We use these (I think the small size) in the coffee shop I work at to keep decaf warm and fresh since it’s made in smaller batches. I think it might be just what you’re looking for! It really does keep things warm all day (we would never keep the decaf sitting that long but we do rent them out for to go orders)

I like the Thermos Nissan 34-Ounce Vacuum Insulated Stainless-Steel Gourmet Coffee Press so much that I've given a few as gifts. The only mildly negative thing I'd say after over ten years of use is that as tempting as it is to leave the coffee in it as it is a Thermos, you really need to get the coffee off the grounds after about 5 minutes, (or else it will just keep getting more bitter). So, I brew in that stainless FP and then pour it into a Nissan Thermos, which will literally keep it hot for a day or more.

I don't know much about these topics, so sorry if these suggestions aren't helpful.

Does she have any nice yoga mats? Does she need any CDs to listen to?

Would she like to try a different kind of coffee? Maybe a French Press?

u/Saermegil · 2 pointsr/Coffee

Moka makes a concentrated coffee, it's not really espresso. I like it as is, it's nice and rich in flavour, and highlights different flavours in your beans. As it is concentrated it's also handy for milky drinks, dumping over ice cream (affogato) etc. However if you think you will only ever enjoy filter-type coffee then you have no use for it.

In that case, let me recommend getting a french press instead. I recommend a metal one, the other ones will break and also break your heart.

I'm fully gonna look into getting one sometime this week.

I have a Nissan insulated stainless french press that I bought at Zabar's more than ten years ago. It is still working great, and it holds heat much better than a glass carafe french press. The price is about half that of the Frieling.

I'd suggest a Clever dripper for yourself, then a Hario #3 + thermos for the occasional guests.

u/swroasting · 1 pointr/Coffee

How many people do you need to serve? You can buy a good 2.2L glass-lined Curtis airpot for under $34.

u/Drdrewness1891 · 1 pointr/bonnaroo

I've had one of these for camping for years, we've used it hundreds of times, It won't break like class and it holds heat longer if you have small (camping style) coffee cups.

Almost everyone has one of these, but they are tried and true as well.

or a smaller/cheaper backpacking style stove

http://www.amazon.com/Coleman-Single-Burner-Propane-2000001833/dp/B000BHA9CG/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1464103153&sr=8-3&keywords=coleman+backpacking+stove

you'd need to bring a pot/saucepan though for either of these stoves

Three excellent options:

2
3

I'll probably end up getting #3 one day soon.

http://www.amazon.com/Thermos-Nissan-34-Ounce-Insulated-Stainless-Steel/dp/B00004S1DB

Long ago, when I could afford to have someone in to clean the joint, a number of Boudums were broken in the process. I looked around and found this $25.31 stainless-steel French press. Inexpensive, works well, keeps your coffee hot while you're swilling the litre plus of brew it makes. They never managed to break it. The only thing I've done to it was to drill a second drain hole on the bottom so I could easily drain it out after running it through the dishwasher. (Everything food-related that's not cast iron in my house gets sterilized in the dishwasher.)

I <3 Coffee, I buy a dry medium or dark roast usually, in whole bean form. My typical morning cup is fresh ground and made in a french press. I grind it a little finer than usual, by preference. I heat my water up in a glass kettle on a gas range. Sometimes I add a little pinch of nutmeg to the press in addition to the grounds.

u/pwsegal · 1 pointr/AskReddit

I've been using a caffetiere (aka moka pot) for years now, and it produces a decent cup of coffee, assuming your coffee is fresh and ground appropriately.
I also have and use french presses (again OK cups but depends on coffee quality and how its ground, having it ground for a caffetiere and using it in a french press will produce a crap cup, and vice versa).
If your worried about the fragility of the glass bodies of the french presses, then you can get something like this http://www.amazon.com/Thermos-34-Ounce-Insulated-Stainless-Steel-Gourmet/dp/B00004S1DB

It also has the benefit of keeping the coffee warm for longer.
As for all coffee making, it can take a while to nail down the technique (including grind) that make a good cup, so experiment, you will make some truly hideous cups, but once you find the correct technique, it will be worth it.

u/trustmeep · 1 pointr/AskReddit

I've been very happy with the Thermos Nissan 34oz Stainless Steel Coffee Press.

It's easy to clean, won't break like many other glass presses, and keeps the coffee hot for several hours.

They have a french press but it doesn't appear to be in the sale. http://www.amazon.com/Thermos-Nissan-34-Ounce-Insulated-Stainless-Steel/dp/B00004S1DB
