I didn't put it in the previous. But what I was thinking of in tonic was this (Tomr's Tonic Syrup). It's a concentrate, so he or she could adjust the strength to the desired level. I know exactly what you're referring to with things like Schweppes.

This https://www.amazon.com/NeverClear-Tonic-Water-Concentrate-Oz/dp/B06XJ9321Z/ looks like something worth testing, and perhaps looking into brewing your own. Seems 12 ounces of concentrate are good for 16x 12 ounce drinks.

Notice they use Cinchona succirubra bark since they claim it has a better taste, and extract the alkaloid with citric acid. Random search result shows it's commercially available https://www.onlybitters.com/only-bitters-cinchona-succirubra-milled-powder-1kg/

Non-diet tonic water has a ton of added sugar. Diet tonic water does not but I've never found a bar that has one.

Gin + soda water with a lime isn't too bad.

Do you mean this? Most nicer grocery stores near me (think Whole Foods) carry it for about $7 for a four pack. The Amazon price is slightly cheaper than that though you have to buy more.
