I tried custom orthopedic inserts for a year and it did nothing for me! I finally caved and bought a pair of orthopedic sneakers from Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/Gravity-Defyer-Proven-Relief-Womens/dp/B079ZL4SB9

They are amazing! They do give you a lot of height bc there's a bulky Arch and heel so I wouldn't squat or deadlift in them. But for everyday walking these are my go to. Within a week I went from excruciating pain to moderate pain. Within a couple months I was pain free! I remember when I couldn't even go grocery shopping without feeling pain from walking around. Now I've had super long days where I'm on my feet and I hardly have any discomfort.

I've also invested in orthopedic sandals. Vionic is my go to brand. I bought these for a wedding and theyre my go to shoes if it's not appropriate to wear sneakers. Also have them in black too. I plan on just buying vionic shoes from now on.

You might be looking for something like FitKicks https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00V6ZN4S8/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_YaktDbFG44JRP
They pack flat, are more durable, are washable and are inexpensive. Amazon also has a bunch of cheaper knockoffs as well.

Well, the good news is it's almost fall, which means full-coverage shoes should be easier to come by and completely appropriate for every-day wear!

Personally, I love these sneakers by sketchers. I have them in three different colors and wear them almost every day to work.

I also think Toms are a cute casual flat shoe.

For dressier options, Aerosoles has a good selection of cute flats, and so do Clarks.

But, since like I said it's just about fall, I personally would switch focus to booties and riding boots and combat boots. You will have nearly endless options (presuming that your orthotics will work in any flat shoe) and less frustration than trying to find full-coverage ballet flats.

Skechers. I like the slip on ones with foam. I've been wearing a pair of this one everyday for two years and I'm about to buy a new pair. I've worn skechers everyday for the last 8 years and have had 1 pair every 1-2 years. All this similar style. They last nice, takes ages for the bottoms to wear.

I got these Sketchers for walking because they come in wide. For work I wear the same basic ballet flats I wore before, but in a wide--they aren't supportive but I sit at a desk so it's okay. I also have a pair of Sperry's flip flops that are somewhat supportive and okay to socialize in...but I do need a chair before long.

There's two women I know in my department who commute in comfy shoes and change into nice shoes at work. I think one of them walks for a good 30-40 minutes so for her comfort is key.

Either way they both have these Sketchers. I realise they're not super trendy but I'm sure they're comfortable af, they're breathable and light. And I think Sketchers have good sales sometimes.

You could consider something like this or just any cheap pair of understated sneakers to keep your running shoes separate from your 'work' shoes.

I don't know about your work but sometimes in my business casual(ish) place I will run into someone more important in the elevator hall or coffee corner before I even sit down at my desk for the day and in that instance, I'd rather look generally presentable than have these people see me in neon sneakers. Especially if I have to chat with them or possibly join them in their office to discuss something further. But that's me!

It looks like there are knockoffs on Amazon, but I imagine they are lower quality. You might be able to put an insert in though for more support if you want.

These Propet Slipons are both identical construction Men's and Women's sizing. And super comfy.

Edit: and come in truly wide widths.

I'm getting these in the Navy/aqua

Someone linked these Skechers a day or two ago, they look super comfy - https://www.amazon.com/Skechers-Performance-Womens-Primary-Walking/dp/B0123S4KVG

I wore these for my last year and a half in retail (and boy was it a struggle to find them on Google.) I've worn out a lot of sneakers, and these were the second most comfortable pair ever, losing only to some low-profile black and gray New Balances that I'd buy all the way out of stock if I ever managed to find another pair. Actually, now that I know where to get them, I might buy more of the Skechers too. The ones I have now are starting to fall apart from, y'know, spending a year and a half walking for 6-8 hours a day every day. Still comfortable, though.

Oh man, this is difficult..

I absolutely LOVE these skates. Mostly for the glitter.. More than anything I love these tennis shoes. I mean, pups and sushi!? How freaking cute, right?!

u/trappedinthetardis · 1 pointr/femalefashionadvice

Might be too casual for you but these come up a little higher and hide ankle socks better than vans/keds. They are also SUPER comfy (no break ins needed, and I get blisters from almost every shoe) and machine washable.

I have so many favorites! My most recent one has been these fit kicks in black/grey. https://www.amazon.com/FitKicks-Womens-Active-Footwear-Fuchsia/dp/B00V6ZMRYU/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1506539372&sr=8-1&keywords=fit+kicks+for+women
I buy them as gifts. 20.00 bucks and everyone loves them. I wear them during road trips, running basic errands, airports, short walks around the neighborhood. My 11 yr old niece begged me not to wear them in public with her. Ha! They definitely make a fashion statement.

Skechers Go Walk 3. Wore my Nike free runs with Dr. Scholl's insoles night one last year and my feet were killing me. Put these on at the outlet store and it was like walking on a cloud. I now have three pairs for daily use.

I can't find the exact shoes online anymore (just found them this week at TJ Maxx) -- they're Skechers memory foam sneakers with a gradient from dark blue to light blue.

Like this, but only one gradient instead of multiple:

I got these Reebok sneakers in black after seeing them recommended in another thread on FFA. I really like them, and find them very comfortable.

u/ExNihiloAdNihilum · 1 pointr/femalefashionadvice

Oh I'm so glad I clicked on this thread! I've been looking for a comfy and super light pair of shoes to replace my Reeboks that I can no longer find in the right size or color, these look like a good idea!!

u/Seranade · 1 pointr/femalefashionadvice

I don't wear heels either because they're just not suited for me/my life.

For work - Hush Puppies Chilli because I'm a pharmacist = on my feet all day. My next purchase for work are compression stockings. The hush puppies are almost dead so I'll need to get some more work shoes soon too.

Casual -

  • Skechers Go Step Lite / Reebok Skyscape Runaround 2.0 both in black/white; if these shoes broke I would replace them with the exact same shoes. I have the Skyscape in grey as well, but it gets stained easily so I would find a different pair of grey sneakers if they broke.

  • Veja Esplar Velcro in white - if these shoes broke I would find a different pair of white sneakers.

  • Black Slides (forgot brand) - I also want to get a pair of brown slides for lighter-coloured outfits.

  • Black chelsea's (forgot brand) for winter

  • On my to-buy list: nice, plain pair of pointed toe black leather flats (why are they so hard to find!?)

This is the pair I’ve been eyeing.
