I can't help but feel like these selections are more about function than form. Not saying there's anything wrong with that, but I prefer trying to marry both.

I don't think I'm ever going to be able to trick myself into wearing a denim jacket and though I'll own jackets with big hoods, they'll be reserved for unusual situations in which I need to be out in the rain for an extended period of time without an umbrella.

For fall I really like military styled 2 or 4 pocket jackets like the M-65 style jackets (usually cotton and can be lined or unlined - Ex 1, Ex 2, Ex 3 ) and light technical shells (matte material that is wind and water proof with a mock neck - very sleek Ex1 Ex2 Ex3 ). Winter will find me in peacoats (see peacoat guides), car coats and the occasional well-insulated, fitted technical shell with a mock neck and hidden zip-in hood (I'm not overly familiar with the current offerings so I'd have to do some looking).

M-65 style jackets are all over the place. Technical shells can be had from marmot, patagonia, north face, columbia, etc - you'll want to watch out for branding if that's not your thing. Peacoats can be had anywhere (new) or on ebay (authentic used) or a army surplus stores (usually used). Car coats, similarly are all over the place.

Dickies are tits if they fit your body type.

I buy these since I like having lots of pockets and climb ladders. Have kneepad inserts too!

Here’s the high quality ones that’ll last, the ones above are pretty cheap.

You can see my main carry here, I make use of vests and shirts like this one in the warmer months and my winter jacket to help conceal mine. Otherwise I also carry a Ruger LC9S often.

u/smilingtruth · 2 pointsr/Hyperhidrosis

I'm sorry that happened to you. It's terrible. We're here for you. The most important thing to do is to be as kind as possible to yourself. Do you usually do something related to construction for work?

From what I understand, you have cranial and chest hyperhidrosis. If you’re looking for treatments, there was a discussion in the group with dermatologists a little while back. If you plan on doing construction again, maybe take a look at some of the items below to keep your body a little cooler.

Having a Camelback may make it easier to consume water throughout the day to keep the body cool. I could only find 3L versions.

LAPG sold them out

Right now going price is:

$60 on Amazon

$50 on Tactical Distrubuters

$57 here

$70 on Midway

I researched a few other threads on the GA subreddit where people were selling them & what people said they'd pay and based my initial price off of that.

I'm really quite enamored with the Carhartt Extremes (don't forget the hood). Here's an in-depth review.

THANKS TO ALL who offered experiences and opinions!

There's a Dickie's coach jacket on Amazon for $20. I'm too lazy to link it. Or just go on Grailed Basic and search up windbreakers.

I had a jacket made by Element (the skate brand) that was a cross between this Carhartt M-65 and this Levi's trucker. I'd recommend it but I can't find it sold anywhere anymore (bought it 3 years ago). Pity because I just lost it...

Venture Heat Outlast 2.0 VS. Gerbing Gyde heated jackets with portable battery

Anyone try either of these? I don't want to have to hook directly into a battery, I want it for normal use as well. These seemed to be the best two options out there. Any advice?

If you want durable and good at zero or below you should look at aCarhartt Men's Arctic Quilt Lined Yukon Coat C55 . I bought this back in 2014 after my other carhartt jacket (over 15 years of use) got a bit ragged. This is an incredibly warm jacket and rugged coat. The outer layer is almost canvas like. I had a sweater on under this at -10F shoveling snow in the winter and got sweaty. It blocks winds
very well and I have stood outside at around 10F for hours without getting the slightest chill. I also got the optional hat.

Downside is that it is a bit stiff but after a few years and washes it gets better.

Not sure it this is too much into the parka territory for you but Carhartt does have other though jackets that are not as insulated.

I have had this uniform almost 3 years with solid use, not only have they held up but they never faded. Love them. Let me know if you wanna see some more pictures of the uniform in action lol

I'd say look at Stan Ray or Dickies but neither option is particularly slim. Maybe a Levi's jacket on sale?

Edit- Looks like this Levi's commuter might fit the bill

Carhartt Quilted Flannel Lined Duck Jacket Size Large in Brown
asking for an exchange for a Medium one. If I don't get a response, I will just return this.

Also have an A&F $50 gift card. If I remember correctly, when you order online using a GC, you get a discount. Selling for face value. Just getting rid of it.
