There's no right or wrong way to go about starting a collection.

First things first, you've gotta figure out what kind of stamp you want to collect. If you decide to just collect anything and everything, things can get unwieldy very quickly, so I recommend finding a niche sooner or later. One of the easiest to get into (if you're in the States, anyway) is United States stamps. You already have a fairly decent spread in the pictures you provided, so I'd recommend going that route.

Next, you'll need some way to display your stamps. The album you have should work for the time being, but if you want to expand it into newer territory at all, something else may be in store. You can do anything with this from taking a three-ring binder and a few pages of printer paper with a grid printed on them to a purpose-made album. There are even some pages out there that have slots built into the page so that you don't have to hinge your stamps.Personally, I use Mystic Stamp Company's Heirloom album for my American collection, because it has printed pictures that depict a spot for nearly every stamp ever printed by the United States, along with other pertinent info like perforations, distinguishing marks, Scott Catalogue numbers, etcetera.

Once you have that, you'll need a way to keep your stamps in your album. The cheapest method to doing this is with a bag of hinges. This is hardly optimal, as this devalues a stamp in many peoples' minds, but you can get about 5,000 of them for less than fifteen bucks, and most stamps you'll run across aren't so valuable that hinging them would be really detrimental. Stamp Mounts are better, since they don't damage the stamp, but are also more expensive.

Once you have these things, you can go about acquiring more stamps. You can find grab-bags of large numbers of them in many places, including eBay, some hobby shops, and garage sales. If you want more specific stamps, there are numerous dealers about to choose from. You can remove stamps from envelopes by soaking them off in a bowl of water (aside from a lot of modern self-adhesive stamps, but that's a different story). Let family and friends know of your hobby, and see if they'll hang onto any stamps they may have laying around on old envelopes or what have you.

This is some stuff that should set you on your way to getting into the hobby. If you decide that it's your cup of tea, then there are many, many more things to get into. You can pick up one of the many guides to stamp collecting that are out there for more info, written by people much better at conveying things like this than I am. Of course, you can always ask us on /r/philately if you have any questions, as well, and there are many philatelic forums out there.

I hope that somewhere in this wall of text is at least some information you can find useful!

http://www.stampalbums.com is by far the most accessible and easy to use pages. It's also the cheapest solution out there with little to no effort involved. For I think $20 you get a subscription for a year I think. You can download every country he's built albums for in that year. He updates pretty normally and will answer any questions you have.

Another option is page layout software. The prices vary wildly from $19 - $100. This is pretty labor intensive and just as bad as using graph paper. Regardless of what you use it's the paper that's most important. It needs to be acid and lignin free paper (archival safe). I use a heavy card stock paper http://www.thepapermillstore.com/astroparche-blue-card-stock-8-1-2-x-11-in-65-lb-cover-vellum-30-recycled-250-per-package.html

It holds up very well, but makes for thick binders. The pages don't flex and cause you mounts or hinges to break bond.

Edit... I forgot to mention a few more customizations to pages that will help. I round the corners with this http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B000B7S4FK and also use cloth hole reinforcements on the ring holes like these but made of a fabric http://www.viking-direct.co.uk/a/pb/Avery-Reinforcement-Rings-Clear-Box-Of-500/id=43409/

If you're in the mood for bargain hunting you can find vendors that sell the lighthouse three hole binders with dust jackets on the cheap. They often sell then in packs of three.

Edit edit.... Ok deleted my other comment so this is the only one you should see.. No confusion that way. This should be just about everything you need to make a better album. Mix it up and use your own colors pictures scalloped page edges etc... It's the neat part of the process. It also looks much better than a plain jane album. It will last a really long time and it's something about the hobby that you can say you contributed in.

Welcome to stamp collecting. I'm not a flower stamp collector, but I can help with your questions:

|To me the hardest thing is figuring out how to classify the stamps. Do you classify them by country, type of flower, by year??

The answer is really personal preference. Whatever way makes the most sense and gives you the most enjoyment. Since there aren't any stamp albums, you can make your own pages to suite what layout you want. Plazman30, one of the moderators here, does that for his country collection and posts a blog about it.

| Is it a good idea to buy big packs of random stamps or is it a waste of time?

You'll waste money if you're buying large packs, just to find a few flower stamps. You're better off looking in ebay's Flower stamp category and looking for small collections to start off with. Amazon has some for sale as well, such as this collection, but you have to watch the prices at amazon.

And here are a few more links for you:

Stamp Community Family Topical Forum You'll have to search for flower threads here.

May I suggest a different route than a traditional stamp album. Consider Lighthouse VARIO pages. Here's a link to the 8 slots pages on Amazon http://www.amazon.com/25-Lighthouse-VARIO-8S-pages/dp/B005FN41HU/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1409533455&sr=8-5&keywords=lighthouse+pages. They come in different sizes as well.

You can also create and print you're own pages like I do. But if you do, make sure you use acid free paper. And for valuable stamps you'll want to use something like Scott's mounts. Example here http://www.amazon.com/Scott-Prinz-25X41-Mounts-SCOTT/dp/B00BV8HK26/ref=sr_1_7?ie=UTF8&qid=1409534156&sr=8-7&keywords=Scotts+mounts.

This is the easiest method that I've found.

The TLDR is that you put a couple of drops of Bestine Solvent on the back of the paper, and the stamp peals right off. However, it will still be sticky. You can either scrape the adhesive off, dab some unscented talcum powder on it, or stick the stamp to the clear window of dealer stock cards and cut it out. I've found it tricky to scrape the adhesive off without damaging the stamp. And I cannot find unscented talcum powder anywhere. Luckily the dealer stock cards is an easy option.

(I'm just figuring this out, so use your own best judgement.)

Mounts are INSANELY expensive and placing EVERY stamp in your collection in one could make the mounts MORE expensive than your stamp collection.

Personally if a stamp is worth $5+ I will place it in a mount.

Most stamps are not worth much and I realized a long time ago that photo corners work extremely well with stamps. Two corners per small stamps, 4 for big ones. They are very cheap and they stick very well. Currently you can purchase a pack of 24(250 corners ea) for $34. That's 6000 corners for $34. With that many you will be able to place 2200+ stamps in your albums. I'm sure the clear corners will yellow over time but it doesn't damage the stamps and it doesn't get better than this for majority(low value) stamps. Also looks decent.

These are the ones I use:

I bought one pack to test them out and ended up ordering a few 24pack boxes.

There's some copies on Amazon for $18-20 if this is the same book.
