Actually, I thought of something much easier/faster/cheaper than using arduinos (though they're fun!)

Using something like this RF Remote and Receiver set to trigger a small servo motor to do a rotation with a flag or something right in front of the sensor. Precision is key, since you don't want the "flag" to block the sensor in any other case.

Small battery pack to power the receiving end. Some control/check systems, and you're golden. Of course hammering out the details is the fun part.

Some thoughts on the matter:

You can trigger the servo with the RF Transmitter/Receiver (receiver + arduino or a 555 timer and fun) and have it step either a designated time "x seconds = 180 degrees" or have some sort of check built in (photodetector) that keeps the servo spinning 180 increments until it detects light on. (just in case?)

You can buy a product that includes a fob and a relay receiver. Then the relay can be used to connect power to your motor and sound circuit.

You might try some bluetooth presenter button (or a selfie button), in combo with disabling the "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" and enabling "Allow this device to wake the computer". Ideally the clicker will work as a keyboard/mouse press, which will wake your computer. I'm not sure if that'll work w/ sleep/standby though.

You could also find a wireless clicker & connect it to your existing PC power button, or even a hacked USB keyboard. Then it'll definitely wake your PC up. Something along these lines:

You'd need to find something momentary, not on/off. That might be hard to find.
