Watch out I see from your other post that the fan is 1.2A at 120V , that's nearly 150 watts (1.2 120). It means the inverter would draw over* 12 Amps from a 12 volt battery to run it. Inverters are like 75 to 85% efficient too so add an extra a couple of Amps for that.
If your folks have no power and access to a car battery or three, a solar package and inverter will be super useful but it wont run that fan for long. 150 watt load could hurt a car battery in half an hour or so.
Im not a solid hardware reviewer, but here is an example, hopefuly someone can recommend something even better - A 12 volt fan system for 20 bucks, 8 to 15 watts running power (about 1 Amphour an hour) from the battery. Two charged car batteries could comfortably supply that every night, (a poor quality battery alone could struggle but a different one would be fine - car batteries have some character of their own.)
