I purchased an extension cord and hacked of the female end and wired the two sockets with household lighting and appliance wire (romex 14 guage i think it was) I had lying around.

pretty janky but it works. Eventually Ill replace it with another 240w QB

You remove the domes because the domes are designed to diffuse the light so it's not hard on your eyes. This is the opposite of we want for our purposes. Just geeently pry the dome off with a thin knife, being careful not to push the knife through the bottom of the dome. What you'll be left with, is seven small circular quantum boards built in to lightbulbs. They won't work as well as the Samsung 301b diodes, but they're world's better than a bunch of CFLs.

So far it's worked fine. No flicker or abnormally hot, etc. Seems fairly well constructed and I've been running it for the past 8 days 24/0 with no issues.
