This is the same panel as the https://www.amazon.com/Acer-Predator-Z35-35-inch-speakers/dp/B06ZZDYVQM?th=1 but without the g-sync.
This panel overclocks to 120 hz easily. The only setting you absolutely need to have turned on is the Overdriver set to strong. There is a slight amount of ghosting that goes away with the overdriver setting.

Yeah mine is freesync too. :(

But I'm saving up for Christmas, and asking the wife, and family to save up for one mega gift for me. I want a GSYNC Ultrawide under that tree.

Thanks!

Center is an Acer Predator Z35P 35" 1440p Ultrawide. (The new addition. Just replaced a Samsung U28E590D)

On the sides are two ASUS VH242H 24" 1080p monitors.

I love CS:GO and recently got an ultrawide 3440 x 1440 after having used a 1080p 144Hz TN panel for YEARS. I actually had a personal meltdown when deciding on which monitor to get for myself because I do enjoy competitive games where that 1MS response time I felt was important.

I ultimately had to have a heart-to-heart with myself...

-------------

"Dude you're too old to ever become a pro gamer... you can get an ultrawide IPS panel with a 4MS response time and do well enough"

-----------------------

It was a tough decision... but I did find a middle-ground.

Z35P

https://www.amazon.com/Acer-Predator-Z35P-bmiphz-3440x1440/dp/B06ZZDYVQM

  • 120 Hz OC

  • VA panel (Worse than TN for response time but better than a true IPS panel)

  • G-SYNC

    -------------------

I haven't really noticed anything change in my CS:GO play other than the fact it is now 21:9 and I see a bit more on the sides.

Depends on what's impoirtant to you. Do you want a high refresh rate for gaming? Do you care about anti-motionblur? Do you want 2560x1080 or 3440x1440?

I'd recommend https://www.amazon.com/Acer-Predator-Z35-35-inch-speakers/dp/B01A0FEBXQ/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1518629874&sr=1-1&keywords=Acer+Predator+Z35+35-inch+Curved+Full+HD+%282560+x+1080%29 for 2560x1080@200Hz gaming. ULMB only works up to 144Hz but the monitor can obviously be set to that, important to keep in mind.

or

Curved, 34-35 inches, 100HZ, Gsync Ultrawide 3440x1440:

Acer Predator Z35P - $1000

AOC Agon AG352UCG - $900

ASUS ROG SWIFT PG348Q - $1088

Personally, I am waiting a month or two as I believe ASUS will be coming out with a 35 inch curved ultrawide with 200HZ refresh rate (an update of the bottom one on the list above): https://www.asus.com/us/Monitors/ROG-SWIFT-PG35VQ/

I think once it's released prices might go down on the others I listed above.

Oddly the Amazon page only says 100Hz with no mention of 120Hz while the Anandtech article mentions 120Hz repeatedly.

Need a monitor

I have a great gaming PC (1080ti and i7-8700k). I want a 1440p, 144hz, G-sync monitor that is 30+ inch. Does this exist?
Can this acer z35p be overclocked to 144hz?

What are my options?

u/mindlessASSHOLE · 1 pointr/ultrawidemasterrace

[Z35P] (https://www.amazon.com/Acer-Predator-Z35P-bmiphz-3440x1440/dp/B06ZZDYVQM/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1525625695&sr=8-1&keywords=z35p) dropped to $830~. Very good monitor, only true caveat is the IPS lottery (it's VA, ignore that, but blacklight bleed still a thing). Great colors, Gsync, and can be overclocked in the settings to 120hz.

u/DarlyLara · 1 pointr/ultrawidemasterrace

Yeah, on Amazon

u/ChKlark · 1 pointr/Monitors

True. Looks like it is IPS, though nano ips. Know any others with different panels?

I know the Acer 35P is on sale on Amazon.

Should I just bite the bullet?

u/icallitluck · 1 pointr/Monitors

first thing to come to mind not the cheapest option but similar outcome as what you're looking for I believe

u/sludgeclub · 1 pointr/ultrawidemasterrace

As of right now, looks like prices are down a bit on the first two:

*Asus ROG Swift PG348Q 34" @ $1,199 ($1299-$100)

u/Combatical · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

Why is this bigger one cheaper?

Sure its not 144hz its 100hz but its got g-sync and 1440p over this one.. Im confused.

u/a_park_bench · 1 pointr/pcgaming

I guess we'll see. Acer has the same AU Optronics panel in the Predator Z35P, only difference is they advertise 100Hz overclockable to 120Hz. The Predator is going for $1100.

nvidia article mentioning they both have the same panel and also talking about the 200Hz refresh rate.

1440p at 144FPS will feel butter smooth. The question is, do you have a monitor that can support it?

The cheapest one I can think of off the top of my head is an Acer, which is 27" and 700 bucks. That's not bad, all things considered. I'm pretty confident the first build I posted could do 1440p at 144 FPS. Honestly, even the second build could probably stay up in the 100-120 range

If you want buttery smooth gameplay, get a 144Hz monitor and the first build, and you're not going to wanna upgrade any time soon. Depending on how far you're going to sit from the monitor, you might want to get a bigger one than the one I linked.

Now, 4k is great and all, but you're not going to be getting much above 60 FPS on a 4K monitor, mainly because they're expensive as hell. TO give you an idea, this monitor is over a thousand bucks and isn't even technically 4k (though the Amazon page claims it is. It isn't).

Personally, though, I prefer ultrawides. They give you a wider field of view, as someone showed in a gif a couple weeks ago on this very sub. That second monitor right there, paired with the second build I listed, would put you under budget (meaning you could upgrade a bit), has the same pixel width as a 4K monitor, though not as much height, and should run at a pretty decent clip. I'm fairly confident that you could get 120 consistently out of it without overclock.

144Hz is beastly, and you can see the difference, but, trust me, moving up from a PS4, 120Hz is going to look amazing. Source: Have PS4, have 120hz monitor, computer looks better.

EDIT: I gotta hit the sack now, but I'll answer any more questionsin the morning. :D

You can order one amazon

I didn't have to change any of my settings, but I'm using a GTX1080 (non-Ti) on an OC'd 6700k, running WoW off an SSD, so results may vary. 3440x1440 is 4953600 pixels, 3840x1080 is 4147200, which sounds fairly close, but the pixel density for 3440x1440 is ~116 vs. the ~81 PPI of the CHG90 (it's actually closer to 78/79 PPI). So if you are concerned about performance, the CHG90 would be a better fit--but if you're able to spend $1,500 on it then I'd think you could get a standard 1080, which are very affordable now.

You can get 2560x1080 ultrawides for $200-$400 now, too; LG has an extensive lineup at that resolution and price range.

Not trying to turn you off the CHG90, should you be interested in it. It's unique and the only one of its kind, but it does have its flaws, just like everything else.

If you want a more traditional ultrawide, look at the Acer Z35P. I've personally only held off on it because I'm not sure how I would feel coming from the CHG90 @ 144hz to the Z35P @ 100hz, though I'm sure I would be fine.
