Weirdly, I don't have any special cleaning gear at all. Dishsoap, hot water, and a few scrubbies (those classic green scouring pads, a stainless steel sponge scrubbers, and a chain link scrubber, which is probably the most obscure thing I own). I don't even have barkeeper's friend, lol.

Most pastry projects are easy to clean with a hot soak in soapy water, or else with boiling hot water (like boiling water in a dirty caramel pot).

I do despise cleaning the lid of my food processor, so whenever I can I'll cover the bowl with plastic/parchment/wax paper before closing the lid (more info on Serious Eats), so that it stays clean. This won't work if you need to use the pour spout, or with heavy doughs that will bump up against the lid, but it's great for keeping fine powders out of the lid, like when grinding nut flours or freeze dried fruit, etc.

A chain mail scrubber for your cast iron pans. Works amazing to clean them and not destroy the seasoning of the pan. Requires little upkeep and stores easy.

Okay, since you asked, I present "J's Other Purchases V. 1" (I'll answer other comments with other volumes):

Tired of constantly wearing through scrubber sponges and steel wools, I was surprised to encounter chainmail as a kitchen implement, but despite how odd it sounds, this was a Buy It For Life solution to all my stuck on, baked on food problems. I don't even have cast iron to use it on. I just use it on my regular dishes and it works the same as steel wool (actually a tiny bit better) and never, ever wears out. It gets gunky as anything, but I can just dishwash it back to clean. Fair warning though, it gets slippery to hold when wet.

When I travel, I bring along my Fire Stick which I much prefer to a Chromecast or a Roku Stick for a variety of reasons, almost all of them being that the Fire Stick runs on Android which is just Linux and if you know your way around either of those, as I do, then you are basically walking around with a spare computer - inefficient thought it may be to type with the remote. Anyway, rarely do I encounter televisions which are placed in a space where I can easily access the HDMI ports to plug my stick in, but they usually have a long HDMI cord coming off of them plugged in to something else like a cable box or a DVD player. Sadly, that cord has a male end and the Fire Stick has a male end so it would seem that it is just a cruel tease ... until ... this coupler which allows me to connect my Fire Stick to that long cord with ease.

That's fine, but overpriced - I got this one - works just the same.

I personally think stainless steel pad does too much damage to my seasoning and I'm not that careful with it

If you cook with cast iron every day I highly recommend these [https://www.amazon.com/Amagabeli-Stainless-Chainmail-Scrubber-Pre-Seasoned/dp/B01A51S9Y2/ref=sr_1_12?ie=UTF8&qid=1520952588&sr=8-12&keywords=stainless+steel+pad](Chanmail scrubbers). They are a bit more expensive initially but they last forever, and are all you need. No salt, no scrubbing pads. Just a bit of detergent when necessary. I get all my cast Iron clean with it and I don't think it does any harm to the seasoning.

For cleaning my steel and cast iron, I use one of those chainmail scrubbers. It seems a lot more durable than steel wool and is easier on my hands.

If you cook with cast iron, this is a great item to use to clean it. Just hot water and this scrubber, and it is clean.

I'm referring to an actual piece of chainmail meant for scrubbing cast iron pans. For example

u/ToSeeOrNotToBe · 1 pointr/castiron

It's a chainmail scrubber and you can get one from Amazon.

I have a chain mail scrubber from Amazon and it works great! It achieves the smoothing to a lesser degree than sanding it down but is easier.

u/jckdup · 1 pointr/castiron

Sorry but you are really going to need to get a gas stove.

Looks amazing other wise.
If you don’t have one already get a chainmail scrubber

u/bad-coffee · 1 pointr/Breadit

I have a stainless scrubby. I use it on all my cast, both enameled and seasoned.

I put in a little water, then swish the scrubby around without much pressure. Rinse, then dry, and oil for the seasoned pieces.
