It's good. I recommend facing the USB adapter toward you for optimal range. If it faces to the side, or behind the computer, it cuts the signal pretty drastically.
I got a USB extension cable, so I can face the adapter however I like.

I'm guessing since you got them off eBay that it is an A50 with a mini USB B connection and not micro USB. If it is micro then you'll need a different Y cable.
If that doesn't work then you'd need to cut up USB cables to isolate the power and data lines on separate A plugs.
SIDE NOTE: Unless your motherboard sound card supports Dolby Digital Live (most do not) your digital connection to the A50s is stereo audio, so you're not getting the full surround sound experience intended with the A50s.
