You can get this brand new from Amazon for $299.99, $20.00 cheaper: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01G5JYN0C/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_bS6jDbGXDZPX8

Also the 24” version of the AGON is $230.00 on amazon as well, here’s the link: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01NCTHS6E/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_xU6jDbJB88CC7

Not sure why no one is including the AOC Agon AG271QX in this discussion. It has the best freesync range of the 1440p 144hz monitors with 30-144fps. Only downside is TN, but then again its 1ms and still looks great. Its gone on sale for as low as $350.

u/snarky_answer · 5 pointsr/buildapcsales

same here. My main monitor i use for work/reddit is a 43in 4k 60hz one and my gaming one is a 27in 1440 144hz tn one. Its jarring when i open up a game accidentally on the wrong monitor. It just feels so rough looking. The opposite is true when i watch a video on the 1440 one instead the 4k one.

u/perfes · 4 pointsr/buildapcsales

Most of the monitors here are free sync and I would say have good implementations however I will include a Gsync category.

I would not recommend 4k for the 2080. It would be able to run games around 60 fps at 4k however refresh rate will make things more enjoyable. Also, 4k high refresh rate monitors are currently very expensive.

Good value companies to look at:

Viotek

Pixio (Did not list since availability issues but worth looking at)

Nixeus

More established companies to look at:

Acer

Asus

Samsung

LG

Gigabyte (They have one monitor on the market)

TL;DR of VA vs IPS

IPS has slightly better viewing angles than VA.

IPS has slightly better colors VA.

IPS has better response time than VA.

However, VA does not have defects like IPS glow and much better contrast, so much better blacks and such.

TL;DR of TN vs IPS

IPS has much better viewing angles than TN. TN will color shift if looked at straight on.

IPS has much better colors than TN.

TN has the best response rate.

TN is basically worse in every way than VA and IPS except for response time.

I'm using AOC Agon AG271QX 27” https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01G5JYN0C/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_n0yYzbPQECY97
and I'm pretty happy with it.

u/ll3ubbles · 3 pointsr/Monitors

Ok, what's your budget to begin with?
And what's the main purpose of the monitor? (Gaming, art, design, etc..)

I recently bought a Dell S2716DG/R for my gaming rig and was pleasantly surprised with the picture quality. (Upgraded from a 1080p 32" TV monitor.)

Specs of the Dell
-27" screen
-2560 x 1440 at 144hz (DisplayPort)
-G-Sync
-1ms Response
-TN panel (I know you're looking for an IPS)
-Color Gamut (typical): 82% (CIE1976), 72% (CIE 1931) Color depth: 16.7 Million colors
-DisplayPort and HDMI
-2 USB 3.0 ports

Price: Bought it on 08/26/2017 at $449 (Best Buy) (Wait for the price drop, maybe you can get it for lower.)

Now, there's a 24" version that I've seen go down to $380 at Amazon. Dell 2417DG

If you can try to see the monitor in operation before buying, go check it out. But, it's been an amazing Switch for me and the colors have been way better than my original screen.

^ This is my pick.

Another monitor to consider

AOC Agon AG271QX

I've looked into this and was going to get it, until I found the Dell on sale... pretty good reviews. (Look outside of Amazon reviews, those are mixed with other products)

24" ver. of the AOC

u/Dabest_neo · 3 pointsr/buildapc

The size of the screen really depends on how close you are going to be sitting to them.

From what I've read, professional FPSers prefer 24'-27' screens with a high refresh rate. Since the one you linked has a refresh rate of 144hz, it depends on how much of a "try hard" player you are. I have 2 AGON AG271QX and I love them. My head is about 24" away from them when I game and they are great.

I hope this helps.

Based on reviews and user feedback, it requires adjustments (like any monitor) and has good colour distribution. Like any panel, it has strengths and weaknesses. The design seems nice and it's a 'good to very good' TN panel. Most top end gamer related ones are, so it's not a lemon.

At the end of the day it's up to the user to decide, but my go-to reviewer has not done this model (YouTuber Lims Cave).

u/theonlyredditaccount · 2 pointsr/funny

I'm literally staring at this panel next to an IPS monitor right now. There's not much difference. You should see it in person.

Look on eBay or Craigslist for the Dell. Last time I checked, it was $330ish on eBay, which was crazy cheap. In comparison, I bought mine for $450 used last year, and it's still in perfect condition.

Edit: here's an Amazon link with some cheaper deals on your original one ;)

What do you mean?

The freesync one is 144hz and $540 while the g-sync one is 165hz and $800. I don't think 21 extra hertz is worth $260.

Plus, those two models are really overpriced anyways for 1440p 144hz, when you can get something like this one for $400.

u/Renan003 · 2 pointsr/buildapc

That's a great monitor for the specs. The only downside I see for it is that it lacks adjustable height, but that can be easily fixed by getting a third party VESA mount. I would recommend for the OP to wait until Black Friday though, because that monitor RN at Amazon is $250. I also found the AOC Agon AG271QX to be a decent monitor as well, having everything the Viotek one has but also ith RBG and adjustable height stand, but RN it costs $300 at Amazon, so I don't think it's worth it very much, specially if you can find the other one for $200, but damn that's a good looking monitor: https://www.amazon.com/AOC-AG271QX-2560x1440-DisplayPort-Quickswitch/dp/B01G5JYN0C/ref=sr_1_2?keywords=aoc+agon+27&qid=1571057976&sr=8-2

>[EDIT-2] Oops... apparently there aren't any 120Hz monitors on Amazon with at least 2560x1440 resolution, they're all 1080... That explains why I've never seen/tried one.

That's because pretty much all 1440p (and modern 1080p) high refresh rate monitors are 144hz not 120hz. Here's one well priced 27" 2560x1440 144hz monitor: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01G5JYN0C/

My intention is just to be able to play games on high settings with at least a somewhat stable 60fps in the future.

How well would the same build but with a ryzen 5 2600 , a RTX 2080 ventus 8G and this monitor work? : https://www.amazon.com/AOC-AG271QX-2560x1440-Adjustable-DisplayPort/dp/B01G5JYN0C

u/[deleted] · 2 pointsr/Monitors

Sorry I didn't notice you wanted 1ms. AD27QD is probably the best you can get but it's slightly over your budget. If you don't care IPS you have alternatives at the cost of image quality and/or color accuracy but it shouldn't be a problem since you have mentioned 144Hz and I guess you would use this monitor purely for gaming.

S2719DGF if you have a NVIDIA card or AG271QX if you have an AMD card are my recommendations.

They both sell for $300ish.

u/smashnmashbruh · 1 pointr/Monitors

Save money, don't get gsync, its not as important as 144hz or 250hz. 1080p allows for high frames as well, if you are stuck on 1440p that is fine, its just less frames.

FYI for monitors its all about making sure you get the panel you want, then finding the actual monitor manufacture that has bezel and features you like.

My recommendations

For sure, the advice is very helpful. I am pretty new to PC gaming. Now that i'm making good money I was able to go out and buy a top end computer but I don't know too much about getting the most out of it.

I'm going to make the graphic changes you suggested (removing v-sync and very low anti aliasing). And I'm going to start putting some money aside so I can buy a monitor within the next two months.

Another question, what do you think of this monitor? https://www.amazon.com/AOC-AG271QX-Gaming-Monitor-144hz/dp/B01G5JYN0C/ref=sr_1_8?ie=UTF8&qid=1505593901&sr=8-8&keywords=144hz%2B1440p&th=1

I'd say see if you can get https://www.amazon.com/AOC-AG271QX-2560x1440-Adjustable-DisplayPort/dp/B01G5JYN0C for 350 or less, or get 5-6 less coffees and stretch to 390 if you can. I am using 24" model and it is amazing - freesync is also working like a charm.

u/WinterIsComin · 1 pointr/buildapc

G-sync is one of the most YMMV things I've encountered. I love it and swear by it, particularly for the tons of games where a constant 100+ fps isn't possible, but for people who aren't sensitive to tearing or stuttering it isn't worth the price premium.

If you fall in to the latter camp, this AOC display will suit you nicely.

u/Chusta · 1 pointr/Monitors

Looks like the price is comparable to what i'm seeing here in the states (Your price is a bit cheaper): https://www.amazon.com/AOC-AG271QX-2560x1440-Adjustable-DisplayPort/dp/B01G5JYN0C

I'm not particularly familiar with the AGON brand and I assume the fact that it's not "brand name" is why it's cheaper. Although spec-wise it IS comparable to the acer monitor you linked and reviews from the Amazon link I gave sound like people generally like it.
