For those that can't tell, this is the Cooler Master MasterKeys Pro M (white LEDs, Cherry MX Browns). Loving it so far! A little bit of an adjustment coming from the Blues I'm used to at home, but certainly more quite. Also, it's odd that the NumPad integrates the arrow keys and other function keys to save space, but I'm sure I can get used to that. At least I don't have to use a membrane keyboard :)

Edit: Oh, and the mouse is an MX Master from Logitech, in case people are wondering. Although, this isn't a mouse related community...

u/omega251 · 7 pointsr/pokemon

I can answer one of those. It's the Cooler Master Masterkeys Pro M.

u/reclusiveaggressive1 · 5 pointsr/headphones

Pretty nice, but I'd recommend an upgrade to a Masterkeys Pro M White. Gotta get Cherry MX Blue for the extra clackety-clack!

u/trustifarian · 3 pointsr/MechanicalKeyboards

If you can stretch to $100-$110 there is the Masterkeys Pro M/L White in Cherry Red/Brown/Blues. The L is full sized, the M is a 90% so numpad but no nav cluster. If she needs the numpad. Some combinations have a $20 rebate.

u/SwammerDo · 3 pointsr/MechanicalKeyboards

If you need a numpad then get a keyboard with a numberpad.

you could also make a compromise

u/clee290 · 3 pointsr/MechanicalKeyboards

Sure, it's a solid keyboard. It's generally recommended over Corsair/Razer/Logitech. Any switch can be used for gaming/typing, it just depends on what you like. It would be best if you could try one at a store, or at the very least, get a switch tester.

And there's also the Pro M if you wanted something smaller:

At that weight, you are limited to Browns. Ducky One is probably the best available for the price. You could go with a Deck Hassium if you do not mind spending a bit more. You do get PBT caps on a backlit 'board. A lot of keyboards are currently out of stock of Browns.

Why Fullsize? Full sized keyboards are bad ergonomically for right handed mouse users. If you really must have a number pad, then I suggest a CM Masterkeys pro M

u/DangerG · 2 pointsr/MechanicalKeyboards

I have heard good things about the [Masterkeys Pro M] (https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B01ITE93K6/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1487459061&sr=8-1&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_FMwebp_QL65&keywords=masterkeys+pro+m&dpPl=1&dpID=51XsCXlmjGL&ref=plSrch)

It is nice because it remains fairly compact, and it also has a standard bottom row so you aren't limited on Cap choices.

I personally almost bought it after researching it heavily but decided to keep saving for my dream full-sized board.

Sad to say but Razer is actually synonymous with BAD quality. They're overpriced for what they offer and they're quality control is abysmal.

With a budget of $300, you can basically get any of the prebuilt off the shelf keyboards.

What kind of size are you looking for? The keyboards are classified by the amount of keys they possess.

Let's start at the beginning. You're surely used to the fullsize keyboard with numpad and everything. Examples: CM Masterkeys Pro L or Ducky Shine 5

Do you feel like you want the numpad but want a smaller board? You can go with a TK (ten key) or a 96 key layout (these are not the same). CM Masterkeys Pro M or RS96

Do you want to drop the numpad? You'll have a huge pick from the amount of TKL (ten keyless) boards or a 75% layout (again, these are not the same). MK Disco or Ducky One

Find that you don't use the nav cluster or the function row that much? You can get a 60% or 65% keyboard. Pok3r or Leopold FC660M

Do note that any of the missing keys can be found on layers (which means you press the function key to access them, only one additional keypress for much more compactness)

You can go even smaller by dropping the number row and getting a 30% or 40% keyboard. MiniVan or Planck

Then there are the split keyboards that you can buy or build. The Mistel Barocco or the Ergodox EZ are some options if you want some

u/dn1ce · 2 pointsr/wallpaperdump

I have a few!
I have my first mechanical keyboard, that has since been retired, the Magicforce 68 in Outemu Browns. The second and my primary one is the Cooler Master Masterkeys Pro M with Cherry MX Browns and Tai Hao Midnight Dawn keycaps. Lastly, I use the Obins Anne Pro with Gateron Browns occasionally.

u/derKoekje · 2 pointsr/MechanicalKeyboards

Discontinued yes, but it was phased out for this which can be had around your budget: https://www.amazon.com/Cooler-Master-MasterKeys-Mechanical-Keyboard/dp/B01ITE93K6

u/throwawayforautomod · 2 pointsr/shopformypc

Alright, there is a few options that i would recommend

---

If you don't want a numpad this is a great option

Cooler master masterkeys S (PBT (Thicker keycaps))

If you want a numpad this is the version with one

Cooler master masterkeys pro L

If you want a non pbt version of the S

Cooler master masterkeys S

If you want a pbt version of the pro L

Cooler master masterkeys pro L (PBT(Thicker keycaps))

---

These are all cherry mx brown switches, I'm not sure what the difference is between the pro and non pro versions you might have to look that up, they have white leds and come in at your budget, enjoy

u/SwimmingAshes · 2 pointsr/MechanicalKeyboards

Not entirely, the new "Masterkeys Pro M" is the new revision of the TK.

https://www.amazon.com/Cooler-Master-MasterKeys-Mechanical-Keyboard/dp/B01ITE93K6/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1494020881&sr=1-1&keywords=masterkeys+Pro+M

It's a better product imo. Mainly the bottom row is now standard so you can use any keycap set you want, and the numpad only needs one or two keys you'll need to order individually.

u/HMKS · 2 pointsr/MechanicalKeyboards

I've been looking for a keyboard with Brown switches for work. I have a CoolerMaster MasterKeys Pro L with Red switches at home and am leaning heavily towards another CM board for work.
Thoughts on the CM MasterKeys S PBT - TKL? Looking at the reviews, it seems the letters on the Key caps fade, and as much as I want to give PBT a try, I don't want a keyboard with faded keys. Worst comes to worst, I'll look at the MasterKeys Pro M.
Living in Canada and hoping for a $150 budget, lower preferable. Open to alternative recommendations if anyone has any. :)

u/billguncrash · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

A bit late to the party but this is what I have.

Brown switches, solid white LEDs so you can see at night but no bullshit RGB. This is tenkeyless but there's also a full layout version that costs a bit more.

u/DyLaNzZpRo · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

If you can squeeze ~$116, here's a superb option.

Otherwise, a hair below $100 is this, again an excellent option.

I believe CM are planning on releasing the TKL model with just white LEDs, which I imagine would be cheaper than the Masterkeys M, so you could wait for that if you wanted.

Overall they're both great options, incredibly solid, standard layouts, good looking etc.

Edit: They also, both come in Cherry MX blue/red/brown variants, an MX green version is also very possible in the future.

Joining the MK culture for the first time...

Went to Best Buy and checked out the 3 offerings there (Razer Greens = Cherry Blues?; Logitech's Romer-G's, and Corsair's Cherry Red's).

Definitely liked the tactile feedback of the Greens more than the linear of the Reds / Romers. Would prefer quieter, though, so I assume Cherry Brown's are the way to go.

Reading through this page, sounds like MasterKeys is a solid manufacturer.

So, would y'all recommend Master Key Cherry Brown ?

u/Apprentice57 · 1 pointr/buildapcsales

The biggest question you want to answer for any mechanical keyboard is which type of switch you want.

Most exclusive gamers like linear switches, which let you double tap very effectively. These are usually sold as 'red' switches.

There's also clicky switches, which have a sharp bump and audible click when the key actuates. Sold as 'blue' switches.

Then there's tactile switches, which have a lighter bump when the key actuates (they're as quiet as reds). They're sold as browns, and are somewhat of an intermediate between red and blue.

Generally speaking, blues are for exclusively typing, reds for exclusively gaming, and browns are good for a mixture. I'd recommend going to a Fry's/Microcenter/Best Buy (in that order) and finding which of the three you prefer on a in store model. Brands vary between their implementation of clickly/tactile/linear, but not too much.

Then, figure out whether you need programmable macros and such. I usually play games that really don't require them, so it's a non issue for me.

If so, that tends to be the one feature that gaming marketed keyboards have over the others at this price point. Coolermaster is generally the only gaming themed company I respect much. Their stuff is well priced, and makes some cool innovations. And their keys have a standard layout.

If no, then you have a ton of good options and budget plays a big role. You could get the wireless Anne pro. The rgb Ducky Shine. Or the excellently budgeted Magicforce 68. You could get a WASD keyboard and completely customize individual keycap color.

Any of those would be good options, as well as more but it's probably already overwhelming.

I am thinking about buying my first MK, here are my two canditates so far:

  • MasterKeys Pro M
  • CM Storm QuickFire Rapid-i

    Question1:
They look similar, and I am okay with how both looks. However I am really noob here so which one would you pick and why? (You can also suggest similar MKs) (I picked those mainly because of price. I am going to use it for mostly gaming, dont need numpad.)

Question2: Can I replace their keys with fancy colored ones I see around? If so where do I buy the correct ones?

u/acaibsu · 1 pointr/MechanicalKeyboards

I looked at the 80% ones and would like something like the Cooler Master MasterKeys Pro M.

  • compact 80% with the numberpad
  • quiet keys like brown switches with o-rings
  • no desire for RGB, but white leds are enough
  • under $150

Any recommendations would be lovely! thank you.
u/SurfaceDockGuy · 1 pointr/Surface

I've got a compact cooler master with cherry brown switches and love it. I paid more for this because instead of the dumb "tenkeyless" design, it has a full numpad which is crucial for Excel as well as real gaming where an inverted T arrow-key set isn't really helpful.

I have no brand preference - I just wanted that one feature. I've only had it for 6 months so I don't know how long they last. But the build quality is excellent.

u/ARCFXX · 1 pointr/MechanicalKeyboards

I know mail in rebates can be kinda bullshit, but the MasterKeys Pro S has one on this month that brings the price down to $145.

I love mine, FWIW.

Then there's the slightly odd Pro M for only $110. It's at least more compact than a full size.

u/I_Punch_Ghosts_AMA · 1 pointr/CruciblePlaybook

Brown switches are a good half step between reds and blues. I have tried both blues and reds in the past. Blues were too stiff and loud; reds were too mushy, but Browns have been the Goldilocks switches for my fingers.

As far as getting away from a tenkeyless keyboard, I was on a search for the right keyboard for me and landed on the Coolermaster Masterkeys M. I sometimes work from home, and wanted tenkey functionality, but didn't want a long-assed board for my day-to-day. https://www.amazon.com/Cooler-Master-MasterKeys-Mechanical-Keyboard/dp/B01ITE93K6

u/caramba2654 · 1 pointr/MechanicalKeyboards

Hm... I need help.

--

Basic history first: I have a Logitech G710+, I like brown switches, and I dislike the non-standard layout of the G710+ which prevents me from easily buying new keycap sets, especially because I don't live in the US.

--

Basically I fell in love with the 90% keyboard layout. It's this layout if anyone is wondering.

--

So I'd very much like to have a keyboard like that. The Coolermaster Masterkeys Pro M looks like the best keyboard to fit the bill. However, I can't buy it locally in my country because it doesn't come with the ANSI layout, which is the one I want. So I'd have to get it from outside. And I'm having lots of trouble finding it. I found this Amazon listing for one, but it looks like it's a "like new" keyboard, so that worries me. On the other hand, that's the only actual listing I managed to find of that keyboard. I can't find it anywhere else.

So my question is: are there any other keyboards with the same layout as the Masterkeys Pro M (yes, I know about the list in here, but I just want to be sure that there aren't any new ones in the market.)? And if not, is buying the keyboard from that Amazon listing a safe thing to do?

u/TheNerdFactor · 1 pointr/MechanicalKeyboards

Masterkeys Pro S RGB w/ MX Browns or Reds. I know you said that you didn't want RGB, but it's always nice to have the option and you can just set them to white. They are only $100. Another option is the Masterkeys Pro M White which you can find on Amazon or on Massdrop right now.

u/The_Doculope · 1 pointr/MechanicalKeyboards

Not the one on Amazon?

u/Anaklusmos · 1 pointr/gaming

Here's mine:

If you like having a number pad and also a smaller keyboard

u/ilikekpop22 · 1 pointr/MechanicalKeyboards

I'm looking to buy my third keyboard.

My first was a blue switch Razer Blackwidow.

My second was a red switch Cooler Master Quickfire.

I lost my last Cooler Master keyboard and I'm looking to replace it with basically the same thing. This is the one I'm looking at now. Red switches and it has the same layout as the Cooler Master Quickfire.

I guess I'm just wondering if there are any other options or things I should consider. I'm big into gaming, so I figure red switches would be the best.

u/xlaxplaya · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

Oh shit I like that. Does that style have a name? Like the ones without the numpad are called tenkey-less, but this is like compact with optional tenkey....

This seems perfect for me, I hardly ever need a numpad so I wouldn't mind having to switch the num lock on once a month or so.

EDIT: seems like it's sometimes called a compact tenkey, but they're not very common....here's Cooler Master's updated version. I like it, but I'm not sure if it's worth $85 to me.

EDIT 2: there's also a similar style called compact 1800.

Feeling conflicted as hell over my keyboard + Mouse purchase.

On Monday I went to Canada Computers to pick up the Corsair Strafe (Cherry MX Reds with red backlight) and a Corsair Katar. This is my first mechanical keyboard, and I'm enjoying typing on it and I love how small the mouse is. However, the entire thing cost me about 180$ (for both), and the Keyboard was on sale.

Now I'm looking on Amazon and I'm seeing much cheaper and (possibly) better alternatives, with different switches:

What do you all think? Should I return my keyboard + mouse and check out alternatives or...?

u/Metaldrake · 1 pointr/MechanicalKeyboards

If you're going for the Quickfire TK, might as well get the MasterKeys Pro M, it's the updated model with a standard bottom row and better keycap font.
