This will help a bit

Also, make sure to use Intel Burn Test, Aida64, Prime95. I use all of these while I was OC'ing, you should stress test with each program for around 1-2 hours and do around a hundred runs of IBT. Do not run these programs at the same time! Make sure you have a good cooler! I'd recommend:

Air cooler - CM Hyper 212 Evo I have this one, amazing bang for your buck.

Noctua NH-D15

AIO Water coolers - NZXT Kraken X61

Corsair H100i

I'd recommend getting a temperature app like Real temp, but it has been known to be a bit wrong (check your motherboard for temps and the idle temperature will be different) As a safety precaution I always made sure my CPU's temp stayed under 80°C (give myself a good 10°C) Anyway, try and run your chip on a 1.25V at 46X multiplier and if it boots to windows you've got a average chip, if it keeps BSODing drop the multiplier/raise the voltage or do both, then just fine tune it.

It took me a good 7 hours to do my first OC (i5 4670K 4.5GHz @ 1.232V) it's not been optimised yet, anyway good luck and have fun overclocking!

u/chrisxixcross · 4 pointsr/pcmasterrace

If you haven't gotten around to building yet, you should definitely consider returning that cooler and picking up an H100i - http://www.amazon.com/Corsair-Series-Extreme-Performance-Liquid/dp/B009ZN2NH6/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1393720081&sr=8-1&keywords=h100i Same exact price and free shipping.

What kind of water cooling do you want to do? were you looking at buying a closed loop like the Corsair h100i, or do you want to do a custom loop? Also, do you plan on water cooling both your CPU & GPU? Those are some things you would want to look at. If you only wanted to do one (such as the CPU with a closed loop) most mid-towers would have plenty of space. But, if you're doing SLI and wanted to water cool everything on a custom loop you will probably want to look at some full-towers (like the Corsair Graphite 780T.) I've heard pretty much nothing but good reviews for the Air 540, it has a ton of room for cables and water cooling due to the way they partitioned the case into two halves, so instead of having like an inch to cram in your cables you get the other half of your case. I've actually got one on the way myself, should be here in a few days so I could update you if you're interested. Hope I can help answer some Q's!

Wow, I'm literally about to order the same build. I'm getting a H100i cpu cooler, the Maximus VI Hero instead of the Z87 pro mobo, and a Seagate Barracuda 1TB instead of a Caviar Blue 1TB HD. I'm also getting the red/black version to match my mobo. Everything else is the same even the same brand GTX 770. Please let me know how it runs, especially how quiet it is.

You have a lot of fans and an overclockable CPU. I would recommend you get an aftermarket CPU cooler to take advantage of these features. As I said above, I'm gonna try the Corsair H100i, but it is pretty expensive. Some less expensive air coolers that I think would look good in this build are

[Phanteks TC12DX](http://www.amazon.com/Phanteks-U-Type-Heat-Sink-Cooler-PH-TC12DX_BK/dp/B00AXUTKEE/ref=sr_1_10? fs=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1393992252&sr=1-10&keywords=phanteks+ph-tc14pe) for $60 on [sale for $40 + shipping] (http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/searchtools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=7616870) right now

Enermax ETS-T40 for $50 (also has leds on the stock fans)

And of course, the [Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo] (http://www.amazon.com/Cooler-Master-Hyper-212-RR-212E-20PK-R2/dp/B005O65JXI/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1393992767&sr=1-1&keywords=hyper+212+evo) for $35 which doesn't match as well but is cheap.

Great job on cable management (it's supposedly easy in this case) and I agree that it need a light on the inside. Let me know what light you end up getting because now I want one too.

u/awesomeo_5000 · 2 pointsr/bapcsalesuk

Not really special, got this from Amazon cheaper a few months back.

u/ScriptLoL · 2 pointsr/watercooling

For under $140 just buy a closed loop IMO.

Corsair H100i is a decent one.

u/kickingpplisfun · 2 pointsr/buildapc

I'm not talking about this PC, but the one I'm building later this year(the current PC is proving to be insufficient for renders and the other work I'm doing after three years of service, and not in a way that a single upgrade could solve the problems)- I was thinking about getting a water cooling setup with a large radiator so I could tone down the fans, as last time I used one, I had an issue with the mobo's fan controller leaving the fucker on full blast even though it was just barely above room temperature. That expanded surface area on the radiator should keep everything cool even on low rpms, if what I've been told (and what I figured myself) is correct.

As for the planned one, I was thinking of using this cooler. The description says it's compatible with all of Intel's lineup, so X99 shouldn't be a problem, right?

u/bdt13334 · 2 pointsr/buildapc

I'd recommend the Corsair H100i. It's still a pretty good value as far as AiO water cooling goes.

u/JonAKATins · 2 pointsr/pcmasterrace

I have the CORSAIR Hydro Series H100i Currently on sale at Amazon.

You probably dont need that exact one, but i have the same CPU also oc at 4.4GHz and i get idle tempts around 26c to 29c and at 100% its around 70c.

I wouldn't trade it for the world.

u/effngee · 2 pointsr/buildapc

Intel's new chip and motherboards are about to come out. Hold on to your money for a few more days. GTX 770 is also a better buy and a faster performer. Radeon 7970 GHz Edition performs about the same as a 770 and comes with four new-ish games. If this is for gaming, very few games even notice more than 4GB of system RAM. You'll be fine with 8GB. You can always add more later. Games also don't make much use of Hyperthreading, so you'd be fine with an i5.

With the RAM and CPU changes, you have about $175 more in your pocket. That's enough for a 23-inch IPS monitor, a 256GB SSD, or a high-end mechanical keyboard and a mouse.

You can also get an HX750 for about $35 less instead, and you'd probably never tell the difference. Let's say you also got a 1TB drive instead. That's another $65 or so. You can now upgrade your CPU cooler to something like an H100i. A Kraken X60 could also work, but not in the NZXT Phantom that you appear to have chosen. Not unless you want to drill your own screw holes.

>Motherboard

  • Gigabyte Z97X-UD5H offers the best value at the moment on Amazon.jp. Similar performance to Z97-Deluxe, with less extra features and gimmicks for 12,000 less.

    >Water Cooling

  • An AIO liquid cooler like Corsair H100i would most likely be your best bet. They're very easy to install and don't require any maintenance.

    >Case

  • Fractal Define R4 would be your best bet for a simple and silent case, it's currently on sale on Amazon, for up to 3,000 cheaper than similar alternatives.
u/SCP-029 · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

I bought this for my water cooling and I love it so far. From what I've read it's low maintenance if at all as well.

The EVO package comes with a tube of their in-house thermal compound, so you'll be applying it yourself. Personally, I'd start off with the EVO. It's a great price, quieter than stock, and you will be able to get moderate overclocks with it, depending on the silicon lottery.

Though the EVO is very capable, when you get into overclocking, and find yourself limited by temps, you might want to upgrade your cooler. Some high-end popular AIOs include the NZXT Kraken and the Corsair H100i. It would also be worth a look at high-end air coolers, such as the Noctua NH-D15 or the CRYORIG R1 Ultimate.

This is a good, basic video on CPU cooling options.

Overall, there are several pros and cons when it comes to air vs liquid. As for air, there are less failure points, and they tend to be easier to install. However, when you get into heavy overclocking, their heat dispersal ability is outclassed by water, plus certain large air coolers can have clearance issues with RAM with large heatsinks. As for water, there are more failure points (pump), and installation can be more difficult, but as mentioned before, if you did well in the silicon lottery, you could potentially achieve higher overclocks if your only limitation is temperature.

I have a Cooler Master HAF XM case with Corsair H100i liquid cooling which I've been using for two years. The H100i has a 240mm radiator with two 140mm fans that are top-mounted. I want to replace the two 140mm's with two 200mm's (which ones yet, I don't know), and wanted to make sure this won't be a conflict. I'm only worried because the case description says it supports 2x200mm fans OR or a 240mm radiator, which sort of implies that it's one or the other.

Also, any guides for ensuring proper airflow with case fans? I'm woefully ignorant on how to configure push/pull for optimum cooling.

u/Cen13 · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

I’m using a a Corsair H100i. https://www.amazon.com/Corsair-Extreme-Performance-Liquid-Cooler/dp/B009ZN2NH6. It’s not overclocked. It also happens on forza Motorsport 7. From what I seen that my ram gets used 90% when running certain games it’s a clean instal also.

u/Skootea · 1 pointr/buildapc

To answer all of you so far at once,

-I'm using this for gaming; I wasn't sure about the need for the ram of not.
-Didn't realize I didn't need the sound card, thanks
-Do you have any cheap ~18-20" monitor suggestions? I don't own that one, it was really a placeholder

I'll definitely look into those cases as I know next to nothing about them. I didn't include a cooling system bc I thought maybe it had one already. I was looking at this below, what case do you recommend it fitting/should I get this or the single fan model?

Noctua NH-U12 S

CM 212

Some that i find really good personally i have a H60 and it works perfect before i had a 412+ but it's 100$ on Amazon.

u/smurfsriot · 1 pointr/watercooling

With that budget you are limiting yourself to AIC/CLC, like a Corsair H100i, Corsair H110, NZXT Kraken, etc.

u/Zelakto · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

One thing to add, I did buy really shitty thermal compound, but then today, when I bought my water cooling, I also bought a lot higher quality thermal compound

u/EckhoTV · 1 pointr/Twitch

You can get some all-in-one water coolers that are relatively simple to install. I personally haven't encountered temperatures yet that call for me to put one in, but it's on my list of things to get!

This is one that I've seen that is highly recommended: http://www.amazon.com/Corsair-Series-Extreme-Performance-Liquid/dp/B009ZN2NH6/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1420098319&sr=8-1&keywords=h100i

u/x86-JD · 1 pointr/techsupport

The maximum TDP of the Cooler Master 212 is 180W. That means it can only effectively cool a processor of up-to 180W. The FX-9590 is a 220W processor; your heatsink simply can't keep up with it. I would suggest something like the Corsair H100i.

u/Level21 · 1 pointr/buildapc

I like this one, but my question is where would that big ass fan go?

Pic Pic2 Pic3 Do forgive me, I haven't installed a piece like this before. Where do these things plug in and typically go?

You still need thermal paste?

I actually have evga GTX 980 overclocked, SLI. I will post it after work, had 3 cards, but didn't need the 3rd, gave it to my Fiancee for her machine instead.

CPU: I7-4790K

GPU: EVGA GTX980 ACX 2.0

MOBO:Asus Z87 PRO

CPU COOLER:CORSAIR H100i

CASE:NZXT SWITCH 810

Monitors: Asus VG248QE

I play with three monitors using surround and run at 2560x1600, usually getting 90-140 FPS with the racing games I play, I just use the single middle monitor if I am playing a shooter or something else. The bezel kind of kills me a bit, and would like to not have it altogether.

If you want - post a game and I'll make a video of it running at X amount of frames, because I cannot go back to dog shit 60 FPS.

u/maddock34 · 1 pointr/PcMasterRaceBuilds

£100 won't be an issue for a cooler. This was the cooler I was initially planning on using I won't need thermal paste then?

Unfortunately I'm a little past the returns period for the motherboard, so my best bet is the 6800k? (Literally searched 6800K and got 3 results)

With the i7-6800K added to pcpartpicker it now gives this error "Some Intel X99 chipset motherboards may need a BIOS update prior to using Broadwell-E CPUs. Upgrading the BIOS may require a different CPU that is supported by older BIOS revisions." Is this something I should be concerned with?

u/TidusJames · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

Ive got the Coolermaster Storm Styker, with my CPU under an H100i (The previous version, not the new one) and two of the [EVGA 980ti Hybrids] (https://www.amazon.com/EVGA-GeForce-Cooling-Graphics-06G-P4-1996-KR/dp/B00Z0UX8TA) and 6 HDs.

I have had my CPU rad on the top as an exaust since I got it, so I figured my options where the two GPU radiators either both as intake on the bottom or one intake on the bottom and one exhaust out the back. I ended up doing the split method to prevent venting too much of the overall heat into the case and limiting it to the secondary card as the intake presuming that under normal gaming/non-sli supported games and lower usage that this would result in less heat being vented into the system.

The case also has two fans on the front blowing against the harddrives and towards the rest of the system. Next motherboard and CPU I am planning on doing custom cables and whatnot... but this CPU and motherboard are pushing 6+ years old... no reason now.

u/Edathi · 1 pointr/buildapc

Instead of buying new fans I would say get the h100i and then if you want you can do push pull and get more performance out of it. Also I looked in youre reddit history and saw youre build. I would say definatley go with 16 gb of ram. I have 16 gigs and it is really nice. I can leave chrome open and anything open and just not have to worry. I often go over 8gb of usage. I am currently at almost 8 gb and I am not playing a game or anything.

u/shiz3 · 1 pointr/buildapc

I'll definitely get some new fans once I get everything put together.

As far as cpu cooler, I was really leaning towards the Corsair H100i, but I couldn't get myself to spend that much money on a cpu cooler off the bat. I don't plan on doing any overclocking so I figured I could get by with a cheapo cooler for now.

u/billyuno · 1 pointr/GrandTheftAutoV_PC

Sure, I'll play. I built my system last year, but it still stands up pretty well I think. Hope you don't mind if I don't do one of them fancy tables like others.

Case: Corsair Graphite Series Steel Silver 600T Mid-Tower

Motherboard: ASUS SABERTOOTH Z77

CPU: Intel Core i7-3770K Quad-Core Processor 3.5 GHz

Memory: Corsair Dominator Platinum 16GB (2x8GB) DDR3 1866 MHZ

Power: KingWin Mach 1 1000 Watt

Monitor: BenQ High Performance Gaming XL2720T 27-Inch Screen LED-Lit Monitor

Stereoscopic 3D: NVIDIA 3D Vision 2 Wireless Glasses Kit

And to top it off...

Graphics Card: EVGA GeForce GTX690 4096MB GDDR5 512bit Dual GPU

Currently running an OEM copy of Windows 7 64bit.

I would take a picture, but honestly my desk is kind of a mess, plus there's not much to see. I haven't gone out of my way to make it pretty, as it's just me who ever gets to see it.

Thanks so much! I'll look into this as a possible build. Quick question regarding the CPU Cooler and headset peripheral. Would it be safe if I swapped those two items out and replace it with a Corsair Hydro Series Extreme Performance Liquid CPU Cooler H100i? The CPU cooler and headset is $89.54 and the CPU cooler at $89.99 meaning ¢54 more. I am very willing to sacrifice those two for a water cooler.
