my experience with those wide 20 inch wheels is that it can be tough to get the tire back on without breaking some tire levers. also, its not fun at all. leave the tire out in the sun before trying to put it back on the rim.

my advice is to:

use some pliers to fully remove the thorns
remove the valve core with a valve core remover (i like these https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B074SFM6SX)
squeeze in a good bit of cycling tire sealant into the tube, replace valve core
pump to about 75% normal psi, spin the wheel a bit and let dry with punctured area at lowest point touching the ground
if psi holds pump to 100%, if not repeat

both of my wheels are loaded up with sealant by now and I use it regularly on all my bikes to avoid changing tires
