Buddy, you're in the wrong subreddit for this, but I'll humour you...

>If you buy digitally, you can usually find a cheaper price

That means not just searching for the RRP. If you only buy at RRP then obviously they will be the same price, and also you are a stupid consumer.

You save money by taking advantage of the many, many sales on PC digital retailers (Steam, GOG, Humble Bundle, Green Man Gaming, etc.) that reduce the price of PC gaming considerably compared to console gaming retailers. Let's look at a few examples:

Black Ops 3: RRP $60
Green Man Gaming has it for $30
Amazon has it for $26

Dishonored: RRP $30
Steam has it for $10
Amazon has it for $10

Deus Ex: Human Revolution: RRP $20
Amazon has it for $11

You're right that consoles have the better sports exclusives, and you're also right that Nintendo exclusives are only available on Nintendo consoles (Nintendo consoles are a little different to other consoles because they're basically First Party Nintendo Game Machines, as opposed to Xbox and PlayStation which are essentially Overpriced Low-end PC Simulators). There are plenty of PC exclusive games, and they come in all different genres.

This is the list of PC exclusives. Since 2006 there have been more than 350 PC exclusive games (as opposed to around 130 exclusive Xbox 360 or Xbox One games). Less than 10% of them are RPG or FPS games - PC has the vast majority of strategy games (RTS or TBS), city-builders, and simulation games.

>I don't know if that's just a UK thing but pretty much all games in the US retail for the exact same no matter what platform, including Dishonored: http://www.amazon.com/Dishonored-Pc/dp/B005C2D2H4

That's interesting, I haven't seen that before. I don't know why, seeing as they don't have to give a cut to Microsoft or Sony.

>That point is VERY WRONG and you are VERY MISINFORMED

Er... no. As others have pointed out, that point is correct and you have merely misunderstood it. Just because a game registers on Steam or Origin does not mean you can't buy it somewhere else at a competitive price.

>I also wouldn't recommend buying any used PC variants of any of these games, since the key is most likely already redeemed, and without that key, the game is essentially useless since you can't even install it (much less play) without redeeming it and installing Origin/Steam.

Who the hell buys used PC games? Are they even sold anywhere? Generally they aren't necessary, since the new PC market competes very well with a used console copy.

>That's a used PC copy of Mass Effect 3, with the key most likely redeemed. It's essentially useless, since without the one-time use key that redeem on Origin, you aren't able to play it, or even install from disc.

No it isn't. Amazon don't sell used PC games as far as I know, for precisely that reason. I don't know anywhere that does.

That's the thing. Think I may have worded it weird. Neither Amazon, Newegg or the game site mention steam. ctrl+f'ed the pages for 'steam.' Amazon only has a couple results showing up for 'steampunk' and NewEgg returns no matches.

I love it - definitely worth getting, in my opinion. And at $14 on Amazon, it's hard to say no.

  1. I don't know if that's just a UK thing but pretty much all games in the US retail for the exact same no matter what platform, including Dishonored: http://www.amazon.com/Dishonored-Pc/dp/B005C2D2H4

  2. That point is VERY WRONG and you are VERY MISINFORMED. There are many games that are Steamworks or Origin exclusive. For example Borderlands 2 and Skyrim are Steamworks, you MUST install Steam to play them. Likewise, with Mass Effect 3 and Battlefield 3, you MUST install Origin. There are retail copies for all 4 games I mentioned (and all Valve games like you said), but they all come with a one time use key that redeems on the respective platform. You aren't able to install the games from the disk without it (and you're also have to install Origin/Steam as well). And likewise, buying Mass Effect 3 or Skyrim from GMG or Gamergate just provides you with a key to redeem on Steam/Origin. I also wouldn't recommend buying any used PC variants of any of these games, since the key is most likely already redeemed, and without that key, the game is essentially useless since you can't even install it (much less play) without redeeming it and installing Origin/Steam.
