This. I’ve got horrible allergies to all sorts of mold and pollen and such and getting the right filters and battling indoor humidity have been the two key factors to make it livable.

Make sure they are really good filters, I’ve been using these ones since moving here: Filtrete Healthy Living Elite Allergen Reduction https://www.amazon.com/dp/B005F5D5WK

And clean the dehumidifiers regularly, or else they become mold generators! I’ve also been using damp rid chemical dehumidifiers in my entry closet and garage. (that last I suspect is a losing battle.)

Note that you may also want to chat with a Doctor up here about what you are using if it doesn’t work well. What I used in AZ did not work in MN... what I switched to there didn’t quite work here so I’ve had to make some tweaks every time I’ve moved. Biggest problem I’ve found with that is that the meth heads have made it illegal to buy actual pseudoephedrine here, so Sudafed in Oregon is made with phenylephrine instead. Sure you can buy it OTC without signing into the feds log book... but it doesn’t work at all for some folks (me) or as well for others. YMMV.
