You can simply buy a separate pre-amp and connect it to the aux input on your receiver.
You can also get an A/V switch box to be able to use more than 1 device for the aux input. Here’s one that I use:

Some people recommended the Art DJ Pre II as a starter preamp. ProJects preamp’s are also very good, and so is U-Turn’s pluto preamp.
To truly fix the built in preamp is replacing the faulty transistors or ICs in the preamp circuit, which requires knowledge of reading schematics and soldiering, as VinylEngine has the service manual as a free download which has the schematic for the unit.
