It won't make up for your plants in any sort of way. But it will be something, and I believe sunday is donation day, so won't have to pay anything for admission.
edit: If anyone else is reading, remember rules 1 and 2 of growing cannabis; don't tell anyone. Doesn't matter that it's legal now. Best case scenario when ripped off is it happens like OP, worst case is you end up dead or with a gun in your face over some plants.

That with extra sensors works very well for motion detection with very minimal false alerts, I believe this model works comparably, but haven't used it personally;

If you got tons of cash to throw at this issue, the best method of detection is with Seismic sensors like the military uses, however these are fairly hard to find and very costly.
I would send her a proactive text: "we are not giving you our address, we do not want contact with you for the forseeable future, if you show up at our home we will consider it trespassing and call the police."
THEN, when she does show up (and she will, like you said public records and all that jazz) you not only have it on cameras, but you have that text to show the police that this is NOT a concerned mother this is a woman throwing a fit because she's losing power and control over her son.
I'm sure a lot of people have pointed you to homedefense or security stuff but I would also recommend a driveway alarm for the extra head's up.
I bought a driveway sensor that has pins on the bottom to integrate with other devices. I haven’t done it yet, but I plan to hook a Pi to those pins and then I should have a HomeKit system.

I was looking for a similar setup. I saw a tutorial a while back utilizing a driveway sensor that was hacked into a door/window contact sensor. Haven't been able to find it though. This driveway alarm (https://www.amazon.com/Guardline-Wireless-Driveway-Weatherproof-Detector/dp/B00HFZUKGM/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1519737580&sr=8-3&keywords=driveway+alarm) has a 12 v contact which can be wired to something else. Not sure if a zwave sensor can take that much power though.
