It's alright; it was really cheap when I just wanted to try one out. There are better ones that are actually built into your rear view mirror so it doesn't take up any real estate on your windshield. It records in 3-minute increments and then will overwrite the oldest one (if I don't tag it to save it).
I haven't actually had to produce anything to the police yet for any type of incident, but I have had a few arguments with cabbies where I pointed out I had a dash cam and they stopped yelling and drove off.
This camera has a swivel lens. So I put aside the giant suction cup mount (similar to GPS mounts) and instead used some double sided tape, a 1/4" plastic wedge, and velcro to mount the camera almost flush with the window. Most people don't notice it and those that do assume it's radar or gps.

I stuffed the wire along the top of the window seal and ran it to a switched 12v source inside the dash. Those lights you see in the amazon link stick out really badly so I colored over them with a dry erase marker. They also don't tell you that they randomly ship the SD or MicroSD versions without warning.
I took that photo some time ago and will grab an interior shot when it's light out again.
