Hands down, my weird little HooToo Tripmate Elite.

No reason to carry an external battery or a couple wall warts. Bonus is that I can create a hotspot to cast things to my Chromecast when I'm travelling or create a shared repository for movies/music/pictures on a plane for my wife and I. I've also used it as a wireless router when all a hotel had was one connection to an ethernet port. This is like a swiss army knife for tech. Highly recommend one.

HooToo Tripmate Elite

Use it constantly while traveling, every feature. It's my only USB charger while on the road, it handles AP/bridge duties, it acts as my NAS via a HDD, etc.

Fabulous little thing.

RavPower also makes a product in the same niche, though I prefer the HooToo because it has an integrated power prong vs. using a cable.

I use one of these.

I've used it on Southwest, I'll connect and buy the Wifi Pass on my phone and then I can use it between my wife's iPhone, iPad and my iPhone, iPad and Laptop.

I keep this in my backpack, i use it for everything, charging devices via outlet or battery pack, wireless router, wireless repeater, streaming chromecast in hotel....etc. https://www.amazon.com/HooToo-TripMate-Wireless-External-HT-TM06/dp/B012ZNMUL6/ref=sr_1_4?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1467256692&sr=1-4&keywords=hootoo

Great for any size trip:

It's a travel router (turns any wired connection into a wifi) + battery pack + wall charger all in one

Other than that, just pack like you normally would. I would grab extra of things that would be hard to replace in Maine for whatever reason (particular brand of shampoos? camera charger? you know what you need)

I bought this device back in November for exactly this use case. We don't stay in hotels super often, but it seems to get the job done. When traveling, we bring this device and a Chromecast along.

Disclaimer, I haven't researched travels routers since I bought it, so I'm not sure if there are better options now.

Really simple, you need a "travel router", you connect it to the hotel and then all your devices connect to the router. They work with wired and wireless connections and work with login portals. I'm currently using this:

If you don't want to haul a laptop along, pick up a travel router. I use a [HooToo Tripmate] (https://www.amazon.com/HooToo-TripMate-Wireless-External-HT-TM06/dp/B012ZNMUL6). You can use your phone to connect it to the hotel wifi (with whatever credentials are required) and use that as a local LAN for your devices. As a bonus, it also does USB charging, can serve up media on a thumb drive with a builtin DLNA server, saves you having to deal with hotel credentials multiple times on multiple devices, and is all around awesome.

It's a conspiracy to make you use your PI (and to drop Windows and move to Linux) :P

I see that Amazon has the TM04 for $30.

I'd love to create a network share but that means something will have to run it and I'm only using this while traveling. At home, I have another setup entirely. I'm jusrt wanting to be able to access files on my portable hard drive when I'm not at home & have poor internet. I'm trying these two little travel routers: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B016ZWS9ZE/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o09_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 and https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B012ZNMUL6/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o09_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1 If you don't think I need FAT32 when using these for my FireTV & Android phones/tab to read the files, that would be amazing. Thoughts? (I'm not 100% sure yet if the FireTV will see the files via these devices at all.)

You had an Anker almost catch fire? They're generally one of the better brands. Do you have pictures?

I use HooToo TripMate devices because they're very versatile, e.g., the Elite.

Yes but not simultaneously.

If you find something like this you can use this device as your single sign on, then connect other devices to it.
