You got this.
My favorite book for this type of thing isn't focused on medical issues, but has helped me a lot with anxiety, stress, and living a less worry-filled life. It is called How to Stop Worrying and Start Living by Dale Carnegie. The link is to Amazon, they have the paperback for $10. I think I picked up my copy 15 years or so ago at Barnes & Noble (in store) for around $5.

I feel your pain on the fear and anxiety end of things. I haven't had a PE or pulmonary hypertension-I had 2xDVT. The first night was the worst. The first week was pretty rough. The first night was a mix of fear, anxiety, and questioning (how did this happen, why did it happen to me, wtf does this mean?). Without a doubt, it was my lowest point so far in life. At that point, I was freshly single and lived alone. So, every night after I took my evening shot (Lovenox), I went for progressively longer walks just in case I had a negative reaction (I brought an ID, cell phone, and just enough money to cover cab fare home). It took a solid 3-4 months for the fear, anxiety, and depression to lighten up to my old normal.

Then something wonderful happened. It hit me just after my FVL diagnosis (roughly 6 months after DVT diagnosis). I could either resign myself to live life in fear that these invisible ailments could kill me, or I could start living like there might not be a tomorrow. That sounds kind of dark, but it motivated me to pursue the activities and things that interested me. I'm about 3 months shy of 4 years since DVT diagnosis. In that time, I've done so many things that I never thought I'd do. I finished my degree, did a solo trip to the U.K., got a tattoo, applied to & was accepted to grad school.

It is scary and intense as hell right now, but it will get better. The fear and anxiety will gradually lighten up.

Bonus Site Recommendations

StopTheClot.org for the National Blood Clot Alliance. They have great information about PE, VTE, DVT, anticoagulants, and the various risk factors. They were the first site that I found that had info that was targeted towards my demographic (I was 29 at initial diagnosis, I'm 32 going on 33 now). Next, search Facebook for The Blood Clot Recovery Network Discussion Page. It is full of people that have experienced, PE, DVT, and VTE. It has become a digital community to interact with others that have experienced similar things.

I found these books to be helpful:

Another thing I found that works for me is that when I have a feeling of guilt, I consciously acknowledge it and ask if I am really doing anything wrong, or was I taught that it was wrong. Answer yourself appropriately, and a lot of those "guilt trips" are never taken in short order.

I'm wondering how this is much different from Dale Carnegie's How to Stop Worrying and Start Living, which came out in 1936.

"How to stop worrying and start living" by Dale Carnegie. It helped me a lot.

Quick Summary-

The author gives you ways to deal with worrying situations in life. Most of it is practical advice, and actually does work. Can be applied and put to use by anyone, and in more or less any situation.

Dale Carnegie has a book called How to Stop Worrying and Start Living. I admit I haven't read it yet, but I got huge value out of his other book How to Win Friends and Influence People, so I expect this one is also good. Maybe some other redditors know more?

Wear [these]
(https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000USRG90/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) a few hours before bedtime. Blue light entering the eyes inhibits melatonin production which interferes with sleep. Also, stop taking sleep aids, as you will need larger and larger doses over time, which is NOT a solution. I took large doses of Benadryl for several years and have permanent cognitive impairments as a result.

This book is also pretty helpful in dealing with anxiety.
